"Columbus Stockade Blues" written by Thomas P. Darby and Johnny J. (Jimmy) Tarleton, propelling Columbus to nationwide fame.

Now for the plunge into obscurity. . . . Darby & Tarlton, famous pre-Depression white bluesmen, recorded a two-sided hit in 1927. Both songs became country/folk/bluegrass standards. Name either song.
"Birmingham Jail" and "Columbus Stockade Blues." Tom Darby was from Columbus, GA, Jimmie Tarlton from Chesterfield County, SC. Their 1927 hit sold almost a quarter of a million copies on the Columbia label.
