marat-sade 5-22-93

the psychodrama plays itself out
on a stage set
by the disturbed/ the mentally ill
and confuses the issues
with mad ramblings
designed in free flowing style

perfection sought in psychosis
to add mystery to the
sense of detachment
burned into the minds of the
audience/
who have come from afar to
see this splendid exhibition
for which no one can plead
indifference

great sade/
you run this institution
sternly/
but well
you are not a true inmate
but rather its vital force
you are reasoned in your
actions
beyond the capacity of the
mind of the bourgeoisie's mind
you command their attention
and cause them to think
of their hidden selves
separated by a thin line/
defining their serenity
and their hypocritical existences/
created out of sordid dreams
as to whether or not existence
has any meaning
