it's not a question of reality being altered 
by a hallucinogenic agent
for things are far more concrete than that would 
create
i'm on the boundary line thin and tenuous 
between dimensions of reality
and don't really know which way to turn

the peyote has performed according to some goodly 
measure of success but success to the mentor is not 
the same success of the initiate
the guardian of the world turns out to be the 
hyper imposed image of a gnat taken to leviathan 
proportions under the drug's influence

a different way of seeing what is normally 
nominally regarded as a pest at best 
carlos saw
but did not succeed in really seeing; 
until he overcomes that gnat, he will be deprived 
of really being able TO SEE
the real hyper-reality is still some distance off

power of the mind in the altered state 
scans many possibilities but settles on one 
of especial significance
here is the well head of real knowledge when one 
can understand the possibility as becoming
a truth ever if only that truth can be understood 
only at that moment

yet there will be many others to follow if you
choose the path of consciousness and become ever 
more perceptive;
what attention i gave this account of the gnat being 
the guardian of the world!
but for that ephemeral period i became him and 
put myself in his place
such is the power of mind in transporting itself
