ROLE OF THE DEPARTED

the dead remain a living presence as long as
we remember them in someday significant to our
lives
for the most part the dead whose memories we cherish
most they were clear in their love for you perhaps
they are the only ones remembering and
the rest are of no real importance and should be
relegated to the dustbin of history
where they belong

perhaps some of the dead are like audrey who remains
present and sometimes feelable and visible
guiding and watching over you at your best and at your
worst
she knows that i will transcend someday and there
on the Astral Plane be able to make some sense out of
this exceedingly complex life of mine

the line between life and death may be more subtle
and refined than we dare imagine
death can be a total myth and in reality be a
point of transition to a real life in another
energy form with another conscious perception

but how to get there is a serious concern of mine
and in what final form?
can all of your complex forms of existence be
channeled into one form when all forms that you are
have equal inherent validity?

but hold on to your paganism for it is that which
allows you to straddle the line between earth
and the gods and their powers
that will make all the difference in the Universe
balance the natural with the occult

to the dead what is the inherent worth of what
you learned and continue to learn?
how do they take to the fact that you've superceded
them by a vast margin and come to despise at least some
of them for their inadequacies in life?
only the best of life is worth taking with you
once you depart this limited globe/
but for the dead who were your predecessors,
the ignorant of them are eternally restless
without a word of remorse or forgiveness from you ...
