alone
and left to find 
the truth of one's own being 
ideas rapidly forming 
and dissolving into the ether 
of space and time

where does the truth lie?

many a ponderous thought has 
been scanned by my mind 
leading not to god 
but to the multiplicity of gods 
all intelligent 
all offering me encouragement 
to go on/
to pursue the great mental acts 
which i do/ so i obey 
oh/ such a great outpouring of 
energies in quest of what emerges 
as so little

this is a struggle/ brutal/raw/ 
necessary for fulfillment 
yet there are no guarantees 
save but the effort 
to pursue the necessary -
is that a completion in and of
itself?
no/
that must remain for the asking 
of only the right question ...
