| (C) THE JAMES EARL ADAIR WEBSITE - 2003 |
| The Good Intent is based on a true story and is a very moving show. I only went because there were four ex-Planet cast members in it but I was impressed with all the cast. The story is of Sanders Draper, an American pilot who tries to help a Navy deserter called Jim and ends up performing a very heroic act. Ben Goddard as Sanders Draper is brilliant and he has a great singing voice and is a brilliant actor. Nick Lashbrook plays the role of Jim, a part very different to that of Bosun but he is brilliant. Nick gets to sing loads and he also plays the trumpet. Loveday Smith is Edie, a WAAF in love with Charlie, one of the pilots based at RAF Hornchurch. She has some emotional scenes as Charlie is shot down and killed. Loveday has a beautiful singing voice and is a very competent musician, playing the trumpet, piano, drums and bass. Phil Reed is Charlie, the pilot Edie is in love with. He looks very dashing in his RAF uniform and after Charlie has died he comes back as a ghost dressed in Cricket whites. Its great to hear Phil singing again and he is brilliant on the double bass and guitar. James Earl Adair is hilarious as Arthur, the Air Raid Warden, he gets a lot of laughs and its great to see him take on a more comedic role. He also plays Pops, one of the chiefs of the RAF and this is a very different role to that of Arthur. Other cast member that deserves a mention is Richard Emerson as Jims brother, Tommy. Very funny especially when hes wearing a dress something that you will have to see the show to have explained. I would thoroughly recommend this show and I hope to go and see it again.
