Allen and Laurie were very close, sharing a passion for building and racing motor boats. L.P.'s boat was named "Ketch Me" and Laurie's was "Me Too". They invented many motor improvements, resulting in numerous successes in motor boat races. Laurie's fast-paced life came to an tragic end in 1941, when he suffered a heart attack while judging the dog races in Orlando. He was 38 years old.
