Now you're just about ready to start this free mod. What does it do?It allows air to flow threw the intercooler better. As you may or may not noticed. The flow is somewhat blocked behind the intercooler.By the solid plastic inner fender well cover.By cutting this material out, hence better air flow.Don't expect high horsepower gains from this free mod.You will notice an slight increase in the way your car pulls. At least,I felt a diffence in my car.
Here we go,
- Jack up your car.....You can opt to take off the wheel. It'll make it alot easy'er to get to the bolts.
- Support your car on a jack stand.....Just the passenger side.
- Remove the 2 plastic phillips screws and spring clamps facing you.
- Remove the 3 plastic phillips screws and the spring clamps that hold the inner fender cover to the front clip.
- Remove the 2 10mm bolts facing the tire.
- Pull the bottom cover out some. Now that you have the cover pulled out some. You have to cut it on the fold at the top of it.
Looking at the cover. You'll notice that there is 4 rows of vents towards the bottom .They flow like crap in my opinion.I cut about a 8"x8" square in the middle of mine. You can cut just about how much you want to.
- Next you wnat to find where and how much you want to cut.
- Mark you square with a pencil,marker,ect...
- Drill a hole in one corner.....Big enough to fit a Jig Saw blade into it.
- Cut out the square. Once that's done,I drilled 4 small holes about a 1/4" from each corner. To use for my tie wraps. You could use rivits or glue it.It's pretty much up to you.
- Cut the mesh screen to fit.....You will need to cut it a 1/4" or so bigger than the square you just cut.
- Secure your mesh to the cover. The mesh is used to keep rocks from bending the fins up on the intercooler.I guess if you wanted to, you could leave this part of the inner fender cover off.I wouldn't.....
- Install the cover back on the car.Make sure to tighting every thing.
- Put the wheel back on.
- Let the car back down.Tighting lug nuts.
- Your done.
