I worked with this organization for 9 years. I started at Cushman Electronics
and ended at ITAC (Information Technologies & Applications Corp).
Cushman Electronics manufactured test equipment for the first generation radio
telephone system and (next generation) analog cellular phones (AMPS, TACS,
NORDIC) and digital phone systems (GSM, TDMA).
My group provided surveillance radios for government clients. We designed a
multi-format, multi-channel receiver system that could monitor several radio
channels (4-8-16) simultaneously.
While I worked with the group I had one manager (Mike Phipps) and we had 5
corporate owners.

ITAC, Design Engineer
- Develop cellular test-sets (AMPS, TDMA). Including; mechanical design, power sub-system design, RF Distribution, sub-system selection and integration. Package configurations include rack mount, desktop, and man portable

OAR, Engineer
- Responsible Design Engineer (RDE) and liaison between Cellular Products program manager and off-site engineering - manufacturing services.
- Responsibilities; selection and monitoring sub-contractors, design evaluation, circuit design, and overall responsibility for hardware development. Close involvement with mechanical and circuit design.
- Mechanical design experience includes; chassis selection, component placement, control panel design, wire harness design, and receiver housing design. Emphasis given to 'portability' of components to allow multiple packaging options. Several configurations in production.
- Circuit design tasks include; RF distribution, built in test (BIT) generator, audio distribution, control logic, receiver optimization.
