~Roleplaying, in essense, is opening up one's mind and letting the imagination spill forth in ways only conceived in a second's time, yet contemplated seemingly ages before. When I roleplay, I, in a sense become that personality which I have formed around my character, and through them, I can have the most amazing and fantastic adventures imaginable. Harry Potter has, for some reason, had a particularly strong impact on my imagination and roleplaying life, as it were. The first thing I ever roleplayed was Harry Potter, at first roleplaying only Harry, then forming my character, Staid, whom I am very proud of, and playing him as well. Then I was introduced to past Harry Potter roleplays, in which I came to adopt James Potter as my character. I enjoy playing him thoroughly, as it gives me a chance to be thoroughly annoying, soemthign that Harry is not apt to be. Even Staid isn't as fun to play as James... I think I just identify with him the most. :)
~I've been through many adventures, each and every one worth remembering. Some experiences never to forget...scenes that make you laugh...*smiles* scenes that make you cry... and scenes that make you feel like you're truly alive, if that makes any sense to you at all. I think that anything that can have that much of an impact on a person, reveals a passion and commitment to what is truely worth it in life...
~I think it's interesting how a person can give such life to a character. I have never seen such evolving personalities, traits, and emotions within any other genre of creativity. Literally, as you play your character, and interact with the characters of others, before your eyes, you begin to see them growing up both mentally and physically. You may start out with no clue, then become so intricately involved, that your character has an entire past, present, and future. In essence, a life, and a life that involves other characters as well, as two worlds intermingle and entire storylines are created from the very depths of imagination spurred by boredom. I look at Staid, a character it took only a day to come up with, and see an incredibly complicated person, who has internal struggles and decisions to make about life, just like any other person, and who will take a lifetime to completely figure out, espacially his motivations for some things. And Harry, who I may not have made up, but have certainly given a life to, a seperate life from that given to him by J.K Rowling, perhaps, but that doesn't matter, becuase in the world of roleplaying, you may take any name and add a twist of you own, for this in inevitable, as we are not all J.K. There are boundaries, however, especially when it comes to past roleplaying. James has a destiny set in stone by J.K. and I have no intention of deviating from the path she layed down for him. This makes him none the less pleasant to play, however, for he has certain traits and a personality unique to him, which is fun to play off of. When you know he an Lily are to be married, and start dating in the seventh year, also, new doors are open to the imagination, as two may play out that seventh year, as I am in the middle of attempting at the moment. It should be great fun, because I get to make James grow up and discover his truly romantic side, which, if you know anything about me, is something I can't wait to bring out in him. ;)
