| A raft, four oars, two strong backs, 120 days, 1100 miles. In the summer of 2001, my girlfriend Angie and I will be making an epic voyage down the Green River. Starting at Green River Lakes in Wyoming, across three reservoirs (270 total flat water miles), through 10 canyons, switching to a commercial trip through the Grand Canyon. That's the plan. I suppose some of the idea came from reading "River - One Man's Journey Down the Colorado, Source to Sea" by Colin Fletcher. And by all the other Epic river voyages I've read about before and since which have simply served to fuel my desire. Colin Fletcher at the age of 72 walks to the source of the Green River - Knapsack Col in Wyoming. He hikes along the river down to below Green River Lakes and then puts in with a raft and himself. He then rows and motors down the entire Green to the Colorado and out to the Gulf of California. His journey is 1700 miles.
