He watched her swimming

Away from the shore

Heading for the wide-open sea

As her arms poured out from under her

like the outstretched wings

of a great white bird-

He watched her take the sky with ease.

He watched her  blotting out the sun

Warm days of love

that had just begun

As away she slipped

away so free

Taking his love so easily.
