Living in Costa Rica
Living in Costa Rica is great! The cost of living is very good. I think a person can get by on about six hundred dollars a month. but you would be living very frugally..I think one thousand a month would let you live confortably. An apartment would cost between two hundred fifty and three hundred fifty dollars a month and this would include utilities. Let me add, you will have to be patient and wait until you find what you want and need. In the meantime you can rent a furnished room for about one hundred fifty a month everything included.there are many super markets and the prices will fit your budget . you do not need a car if you are close to San Jose. The bus system is great and you can go anywhere on the bus. There is a bus about every two minutes in you are in town. And the bus all the way to the beach on the pacific side is only about three dollars and fifty cents. This bus makes many stops and takes about three hours. there is an express but that does not stop and cost about five dollars and fifty cents.
You can stay three months on a pass port then have to leave for seventy two hours then can re enter the country. A good trip for seventy two hours is Granada, Nicaragua. About a seven hour bus ride and costs twenty dollars round trip. there are many guest houses for about ten dollars a night.I know one that even has a pool. A beautiful city to visit.
In San Jose there are literally hundres of girls looking for a gringo friend. For marriage or other arrangements.
Night life, there are many discos and bars and movies. One of the most popular bars is the Blue Marlin bar at the hotel Del Rey Many ladies are there hoping to meet gringos. And close by is the Key Largo Bar, a beautiful old restored mansion that is worth seeing. And a lot of local girls are there to meet the gringos. I will add more to this later. If you want to know more or have a specific question please email me and ask. I enjoy talking about Costa Rica
Now. I have to add that Colombia is an excellent place to visit and the cost of living is very reasonable. Most places are very safe except on the borders...a good place to consider
Mexico, is very cheap. however one point to remember is that their laws are not gringo friendly....espcially driving in the country...however the people are friendly and the cost of living is good.
