Beginner Skimboarding Moves

360 On The Sand This is a really easy trick, where the skimboarder spins 360 degrees while sliding on the sand. The easiest way to pull of this trick is to bend over and drag your hand in the sand. The rotation is not easy to control once when skimming along the sand make sure u are not headed for any rocks or anything else that could cause some serious damage. this is a fun trick abd u can do many 360's at a time just don't get dizzy.

Ollie. this trick is uusually found with skaters but it can be preformed with skimmers. what to do?? when skimming over the water push down with your back foot and lift up with the front foot. when doing this u can get some radical air. this is cool because if u pratice it u can get to the point where u can ollie over someones head.

Flyaway this trick is basically described by it's name. this is when a skimboarder launches himself straight of the top of a wave. The skimboarder usually approaches the wave straight on and jumps when he reaches the top. when doing this it send the skimmer straigt into the air uncontroably. It is very popular with beginners, but wont make you a better skimboarder. this can be really fun when u add a litle twist motion creating flips and barrel roals

Shuvit or Shove It A shuvit is a trick where the skimboarder jumps in the air while kicking his board around 180 degrees (or more). to do it u bend your knees and use your tail foot to push it one way creating the board to spin,u can push your feet either one way or the other so that the board will spin underneath you while you are in the air. It takes some practice but the main idea is to land on the board riding backwards. This trick is a beginner move when it is done on flat skim but with crazy praticeit can turn out to be an intermediate or advanced move when performed on waves and in the air.

Intermediate Skimboarding Moves

Headstand This move is pretty crazy and it helps if u can do a headstand on land first. if u dont know here's how. don't worry you dont have to be a crazy balierina to do this trick .since this trick is really hard it is alson really dangerouse.if you hit anything in the water you can result in crazy injuries. Performing this crazy move is very straight forward. Stand on the back of your board while sliding on the sand. Lean over and place your head down in the middle of the board. then after that the best way to start off is buy doing a teddybear headstand which is using your elbows connecting to you knees and then slowly move your way up. this move is a good trick when combined with 360's and u can use this when there arnt any waves.

Flips, flips attract the most attention, this is how to do it. charge right at a wave when u reach the top of the wave jump right off and either either tuck your head, preforming a frontflip, or arch you back to do a back-flip. This come with a "flyaway" listed in the beginner moves section.

Down the Line (backside-frontside)
A backside or frontside "down the line" (liner) is when you approach a wave and wraping around on the wave and moving along the wave while the wave is breaking behind you. The main thing that makes "liners" easy is running at an angle to the water line. when running parelle you dont have to turn your board which increases speed on the wave.

Floater, A floater is a really cool trick this is when the skimmier rides up onto the top of a breaking wave and then "jumps" back down in front of the whitewater.this is a crazy rush. Floaters can be pretty easy or very hard depending on whcih wave u choose.

Wrap, A wrap starts just like a "liner" except after you turn off of the wave you come back towards the beach. Backside wraps are a lot easier because of ballance reasons, combaired to frontside wraps backside is much easier, and more common. Wraps can be much more than an wraps can be much more then what people seem to think what they are, but how fast u move all depends on how powerfull the wave is and how u times the wave. you can pratice wraps on the whitwater if yoiu cant hith the farther waves.

Advanced Skimboarding Moves

Aerial, An aerial is when the skimboarder is launched into the air, holding the board also known as indies and when he lands back on or in front of the wave. Aerials can be either frontside or backside and usually occur when the skimboarder launches off the top, which send them over the top of the wave. u can do this by olling of the wave as it's breaking and when in the air grap the nose or tail or rail and land back on the wave.

Aerial Shuvit this is doing a shuvit when in the air. you can preform these off the wave when it is crashing. the advanced part is when u do an shuvit when on the wave and land and ride the wave in backwards.

360 Aerial, this is when the rider ollies in the air and spins 360's or 180's and lands it. you have to land back on the wave or in front of the wave.

Aerial flip, is when the rider runs straight into the wave and flips holding onto the board still attached to his feet.
