Face it. Larry is bald so why did he have a hairbrush in the
first place? Because it wasn’t his. Larry’s first hairbrush
belonged to the zoo and he used it to brush water buffalos when he worked
there. He accidentally kept it for a while, but soaked it in bleach
to clean it. Now as a prank, Larry stole another hairbrush, the one
that belonged to his friend Lorretta, who’s got very long hair. Now
Bob, Larry’s roommate, knew of the first hairbrush, but not of Lorretta’s.
When the Peach came to visit, he asked around for a hairbrush, for he had
left his comb in Florida. Bob knew Larry didn’t need his old hairbrush
and that it had been cleaned out, but he didn’t know that Larry had just
given it back to the zoo. What wound up happening was Bob gave the
Peach Lorretta’s hairbrush and in turn, Larry couldn’t find it. Voila!
The Hairbrush Song.
Now, Lorretta never knew what happened to her hairbrush, just that Larry took it and never gave it back. Whenever she had an argument with Larry, she would yell at him about it.
Lorretta: AND WHATEVER HAPPENED TO MY HAIRBRUSH!
Larry: I told you. The Peach has it! I got you a new one.
Lorretta: That hairbrush belonged to my grandmother! It was a
family hierloom!
Bob felt really guilty about this and of course asked the Peach what he did with it. The Peach in turn felt bad for he had dropped it in the dolphin tank when he worked as a lifeguard at Sea World. Bob and Larry happened to go to Sea World one summer with Aunt Ruth and Bob tried to retrieve the hairbrush. This is why the picture of Bob and Larry at Sea World in The Song of the Cebu, Bob is being bounced on a dolphin’s nose and the Peach is wearing flippers. The Peach had to rescue Bob and the trained dolphin brought up the soggy hairbrush.
Soon after that, Beth and Lorretta reunited with Bob and Larry and watched a stage version of The Hairbrush Song. Afterwards, Lorretta, of course, asked Larry for her hairbrush and this time, Larry could give it to her.
Larry: Sorry it took so long, but here’s your hairbrush.
Lorretta: Oh. You mean you finally found it?
Larry: Let’s just say, I got it back from the Peach.
