I found a spot in the middle of the lawn. There was a couple there with a 5 year old boy who had been to a few shows. I guess Tweezer is his favorite song. They attended a show last year and the mother somehow bumped into Trey afterwards. She told him it was a good show but her 5 year old really wanted to hear Tweezer. Trey said if she wrote a note to him before the next show, he would play whatever the kid wanted. This is getting long. Anyways, she wrote the note before Alpine Valley and mentioned where she was sitting, and of course he played Tweezer and waved at the kid afterwards. Whatever.

The set wasn't too special at first, until the ambiant My Left Toe turned into Whipping Post. Fun! It was a real smooth -> and I guess it hasn't been played in a long time. Then Makisupa was a blast. The keyword was "brownies and nuggets". Yeah! Trey played a little Happy Birthday theme and announced that it was Chris's birthday. I think he made us all sing happy birthday in a rasta kinda way. He then announced that Fishman would sing a happy birthday solo in the cool rasta voice. It was something like "Ya mon. Happy Birthday mon. When they pass you da big spleef tonight dont pass it to anyone else mon". Or something like that. Hilarious. Trey then made Chris to a 1 minute light solo without music which was pretty fun.

The rest of the set speaks for itself. I started to leave during Cavern to go to the bathroom since Cavern is pretty much always the same. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the aisle on the lawn and just waited it out.

Second set opened with Birds. That's 6 shows and 5 birds or 83%. The jam seemes to be getting better everytime they play it though. The Antelope was great as always, but I dont remember it being anything special. Suzie was actually really long and jammed out. Big fun. Someone described it the next day as being "slinky". I need to hear it again but it was a lot of fun.

HYHU-> Purple Rain-> HYHU. Finally! I've been waiting a long time for one of these and it was SO much fun. And Purple Rain is one of my favorite helpings. He forgot the words, so he just started making shit up. Hilarious. He then did laps around the stage during the closing HYHU and really hammed it up. He even gave the people up front a flash of whats under his dress. I'm still smiling.

And I finally got a YEM! Nothing too special, but hey.. its YEM! The encore was Loving Cup. Nuff said.
