Well I'd already tried the solitus and nanomage females, so I decided to try the atrox and opifex. Opifex are kind of pale skinned gypsy thieves or something. Atrox are the big meat shield galoots with the small heads. Supposedly they're unisex and you can't be a "male" or a "female" Atrox, but who are we kidding? These are guys on serious steroids. They also have some really goofy heads.
I went ahead and made my guy not only extra tall but also extra fat. This gave him quite the stomach. ^_^
Hyman "Pinkbob" Kerans. I still wasn't remembering to check the name the game was giving me... who'd want to be named Hyman? Not that my nickname was any better lol. When I saw that pink mohawk, I just had to have it, and so "Pinkbob" was born.
Unfortunately I made Pink a neutral, and their newbie area was horribly horribly laggy, much worse than either Omnitek or the clans. I don't really know why that was, you'd think more people would be allied with one or the other of the two groups, so I doubt it had anything to do with how many people were in the zone. Anyway, I didn't do much with him, the zone was almost completely unplayable. But I did notice that auto firing a big gun is most satisfying. ^_^
Pinkbob just isn't as graceful as Jaqui. ^_^ When I made him do ballet, rather than spinning around on his toes he waved his hands in the air and bounced back and forth a bit. Just what you'd expect from a big, dumb lug, although I really wanted to see him doing the spins and leg extensions. ^_^
Here's my opifex, Vennie "Nanoblade" Grosland. I'm really getting into the nickname thing now! I made her a meta-physicist, someone who can transform their thoughts into reality (something like that). They're one of the pet classes, summoning a nightmare creature from their mind (another class can build skeleton-like robots, and I think there's a class that can charm too).
In case you didn't notice, it's possible to rename your pet, something I wish EQ would let you do. SOE doesn't undestand the word "fun" sometimes, but Funcom obviously does (hey, it's part of their name isn't it?). So I named my pet Nenneth. ^_^
Nenneth was a very eager pet, if not actually up to soloing most of these newbie mobs. I had two very cool nano attacks, and could freeze a mob so that it never even got to me before it died. I like this class! ^_^ I also figured out how to create a pet attack button, but later when I logged back in, I had to recreate it again. I hope that's not standard operating proceedure, that's gonna suck if it is.
Poor Nenneth didn't make it through this fight. You can see me attacking with one of my nano spells (they ARE spells, no matter what you call them lol), but the lizard is already dead.
