| The Nurse's Station is supposedly completely made of glass so that constant survelliance of the patients is available to the staff, which illustrates an idea of authoratative "Big Brother" spying. Hence, patients are given little to no privacy because they spend much of their time in the Day Room. Yet, even if they are not in the Day Room, the black boys are agents, like law enforcement, of the Big Nurse, connected to her "on a high-voltage wave length of hate [...] performing her bidding before she even thinks it" (29). Thus, Nurse Ratched runs her machine of a ward, enforcing her way by wielding her manipulative power over and against every person within the ward like a powerful politician, never directly attacking her opponent, but killing him in a roundabout manner by restricting his liberties, or ripping away his rights. | ||||||||||
