While student teaching at Lalumier Accelerated School in Cahokia, IL, I was allowed to participate in one of the cadres for school improvement. This opportunity to share in encouraging school and community involvement was interesting and informative. I participated in organizing a school wide scarecrow contest designed to get all students and staff involved in a joint effort to work together, show school spirit, and present this to the parents during open house. This event allowed for friendly competition in a fun and entertaining manner where conflict was often as issue among students.

Other opportunities to interact with staff, parents, individuals, and personnel have included; student conferences, working with fellow students, substitute teaching, and working as Vaction Bible School Director and Sunday School Superintendent. Each of these positions have given many opportunities to interact with others in many different situations.
As a student I worked with many of my peer sharing what we have learned, learning from one another, working together on tasks, and developing our skill as communicators. Working with the same group of individuals for a two year period helped to develop a working relation with others sharing ideas and learning together.
Substitute teaching has put me in many different classrooms, buildings, and with many different people. I have felt comfortable in nearly all situations, accomplishing tasks assigned, and adapting to many varying schedules and environments. I have worked in classrooms ranging from early childhood to high school, literally working with all grade levels; working with relgular education and special educatiion students; in specialty classrooms; and often asked to return to builing and classrooms. The variety of classrooms I have worked within is a delight. I make every effort to work with those around me and offer assistance wherever I can.
Working as VBS Director and Sunday School Superintendent has brought me in contact with a variety of people to guide and direct. These are positions that require an ability to work with a variety of people with their respect, confidence, and support. I feel I have performed these posiiton successfully.
