Re: Harvest Season Decoration Contest

To enliven our halls and celebrate this time of year, many different student and teacher created items adorn the walls and hang from the ceilings. Yet, where are the scarecrows? Well, creating and building scarecrows can be fun and help develop cooperative group learning, so why not have a scarecrow contest? Therefore we are asking that every classroom, the cafeteria staff, office staff, janitors and the playground/lunchroom attendants each create a scarecrow. Have some fun, make it a cooperative classroom project and use your imagination and/or your students' imagination!

Judy Smith, Carolyn Meyer, and Joan Lehan have graciously agreed to come judge our scarecrows and award various ribbons of accomplishment to each scarecrow. (Sorry, only scarecrows will be allowed to accept awards)

Do not be shy; show everyone your creative abilities and those of your students. Go beyond the traditional, if you so chose, use a variety of materials, make them big or small, short or tall, funny or scary, famous or unknown, hang them high, sit them low, let the ideas fly and see what grows. Show us your best, most creative, typical or unusual scarecrows. The challenge begins NOW!!

ALL SCARECROWS ARE TO BE ON DISPLAY Oct 26 for parent-teacher conferences. Judging will occur on October 31. Be ready!
