| If you don't already know the basic plotline for Harry Potter, you have obviously been hiding in a box for the past 5 years. But I'll give a review anyway, for habit's sake. Harry Potter was orphaned as an infant, and sent to live with his borderline-demonic aunt, uncle, and cousin. Soon after, though, he finds some of the secrets of his past, including the surprising fact that he is a wizard. Harry is confronted in each of the four books by the forces of evil (Lord Voldemort). He overcomes terrible ordeals with the assistance of the most awesome headmaster ever, Dumbledore, and his friends. Harry is a bold character that has a lot to teach to anyone. The story preaches an outstanding moral view, and shows even the most superior person how love can affect a someone's life. I used to have a big "Harry isn't evil!" ramble here. But I finally decided that if someone sees it to be offensive, then that is their perogative. And besides, if they did, they most likely would not be reading this review anyway. I do, however, maintain this original thought: it is unfair for someone to judge any book or movie -- or even a person, for that matter -- without first reading, watching, and getting to know it (or, of course him or her). If those who speak of the evils of fantasy novels were to actually read one in its entirity, I might listen to their argument. Something that is biased, or taken on the word of others, though, is not necessarily correct. |
