on the beach

the waves came
i held his hand
covering our feet in their foam
he pulled me close
the sand firm under my feet
i looked into his eyes
the moon shining bright
his lips part
under the stars of the night
i close my eyes in anticipation
the sound of crickets pause
my heart beats a thousand
warm summer breeze embraces us
he pushes me away
the waves came crashing on our legs
he turns away from me
the sand is silent as he walks away
