Rich ripe lush berry with mocha cofee chocolate cherry blackberry blueberry curran licorice and spice though a lingering dry flavorful finish. $38 03 JC Cellars Petite Syrah- this is young and needs some time but is a georgous petite syrah. Huge fruit driven palate with equally huge tannic structure. Smokey meaty nose and Great notes of blackfruit and black cherry with mocha coffee casis licorice and spice. $33 02 Unti Dry Creek Zin- blended with 8% grenache and 8% petite syrah, this is an excellent dry creek wine. Raspberry blackberry with hints of blueberry and casis in the mid palate. great notes of white pepper out the long lingering finish. 03 Unti Grenache- blended with 100% grenache,this is hands down the finest california grenache I have encountered. Light nose of cherry and earthy mocha and coffee bean. Big berry in the midpalate with pepper anaise and spice out the long dry finish. $36 03 Unti Barberra- A unique varietal for dry creek with deep black fruit and black cherry with spicy notes of pepper and other warm spices. $32 02 Tobias Zin- Many of you will remember the 01 tobias zin which is Rick Forman's (Forman wines) Son. This is a fantastic napa zinfandel with great notes of raspberry plum mocha black pepper white pepper and a long fruit driven finish. $29 Branham 2002 Cabernet- this is an amazing napa cabernet in the same ranks as Kelham, Silver Oak, Opus, Plumpjack etc. This has great big plum and blackfruit with notes of mocha coffee chocolate licorice oak casis anise and loads of spice. full rich opulent palate with a long lingering dry spicy finish. $39 02 Madrigal Petite syrah futures- this will be released in April of '05 and is going faster every year. This is a rich beautiful petite with deep layered fruit and spice. Chocolate and blueberry and coffee notes in the mid palate and a long lingering finish. $35 03 Dr Pauly Bergwiesen Noble House riesling QBA- almost as full as a kabinett. Nose of strawberry shortcake and citrus great fruit and clean crisp finish. $14 02 Dr Heyden Oppenheimer Mosel Saar Ruwer Riesling Kabinett-great notes of orange peel citrus pear honeydew apricot clean crisp fruity. $18 02 Dr Fischer Mosel Saar Ruwer Riesling Kabinett Light orange peel petrol nose with clean crisp fruit and finish. Very nicely balanced. $17 I just picked up some incredible new wines. I work with Old World Winery which is Derek Trowbridge who is a cousin of the Martinelli family and continues winemaking in the tradition of his Grandfather Lino Martinelli. 2002 Powerhouse Vineyard Pinot Noir- Located in the north end of potter valley in mendocino county the power house vineyard is certified organic. This is a very very nicely balanced wine with notes of cherry and mocha and violets. I got a great nose on this wine of rich fruit and spice. soft yet full bodied and deep. $25 100 cases 2001 Laughlin Vineyard 2001-Located in the russian river just off river road bordered by mark west creek. Also an organically grown vineyard this also used for Martinelli's wines. On this one I got a very intense earthy ripe fruit nose with really great notes of black cherry and coffee and bakers chocolate with violets and cinnamon spice. great depth and layers and really great finih that lingers. $27 125 cases. Tasting note: I left these in the glass overnight and approached them again the next day and they held up beautifully. That is a well crafted wine. We couldn't believe how good these wines were and we jumped out of our chairs when we got the pricing. These are high end pinots for sure just not the high end price. 02 Demuth Vineyard-This is the one if you are partial to Oregon Pinots. From the Anderson Valley district Great sour cherry and brighter fruit nice violet and spice. Lots of acidity on the finish making this a fantastic food wine. 200 cases produced $35 02 Montgomery Vineyard- This is a russian river vineyard with earthy smokey meaty notes in the nose. Rich cherry and mocha and coffee and chocolate. Light hints of casis strawberry and vanilla notes in the late palate with a spicy soft full bodied finish. 150 cases produced $45 02 Bush Vineyard-also Russian River from dijon 115 clones. Biggest in body and flavor of the three. This has full rich strawberry and cherry and blackberry in the front. some light earthy smokey tones in the nose. Nice smooth full mouth spicy earthy finish. just great. 165 cases produced. $44 2001 Sadler Wells-This is a dense and fully flavored Pinot Noir displaying bright red fruit complex-ed by earth and spice. Celebrated for its unparalleled food affinity, This Pinot Noir complements a wide variety of foods including roasted poultry, grilled salmon, duck, pasta with spicy red sauce and medium cheeses. $35 2002 Morgan Garys' Vineyard Pinot Noir-Garys� Pinot Noir shows a deep black-red hue. The nose shows notes of spicy cherry and black cherry, with cassis and raspberry notes that continue on the palate. The wine shows balanced tension between fruit and acidity, and finely ripe tannins with mineral notes. While featuring the ripe Santa Lucia Highlands fruit as the focal point of the wine, one notes all the components of taste and texture in a long and focused finish. $49 2002 Morgan Rosella's Vineyard Pinot Noir-The color shows a deep reddish hue with good clarity. Medium-full in body, Rosella�s shows a striking purity of fruit. Flavors are ripe and richly textured, with the classic Santa Lucia Highlands cherry and black cherry notes on the nose and palate, along with notes of rose petal and mineral. Ripe, velvety fruit is the core experience of Rosella�s Vineyard Pinot Noirs. With a very big, rich mouth feel and soft, ripe tannins, the wine is eminently enjoyable upon release. $49 2001 Barnett sleepy hollow pinot-Wild fruits of strawberry, cola and plum are laced through spicy notes of roasted pecans, cedar box and sandalwood. The silky and round palate offers hints of exotic spices and red fruit. A delicate touch of acidity adds depth to the mid-palate and length to the finish. $44 2001Truchard Pinot Noir- The 2001 Pinot Noir has a vibrant nose of smoky plum, cranberry, and wild strawberry; combined with notes of tea, leather, and citrus blossom. The mouth is rich and silky-ripe cherry, rhubarb, sweet vanilla, and toasted oak. Firm acidity and delicate tannins lift the palate and prolong the finish of spiced red fruits. 2000 Ancien Mink pinot noir- Deep intense blueberry blackberry cherry and plum. Mid Palate of coffee chocolate leading into deep spice for the finish. very full round mouth-feel and an excellent food wine. was 45 now $33 2000 Ancien Russian River Pinot-Smokey Earthy Spicy deep fruit highlight the nose of this great wine. Mocha violets and coffee and white pepper lead into cinnamon and more spice out the finish. Great for food pairings. was 45 now $33 2002 Whitford Pinot- this is one of my favorite napa pinots- soft silky palate with intense fruit and lots of spice. Goes great with thai food. $27 03 Di Bruno Pinot Grigio-Very crisp with notes of pear and citrus with great acidity in the finish. Great with food. notes of green apple in the mid palate. $19 02 Turjanis- this exception pinot made by Karen Bower Turjanis (winemaker from Cardinale, and Paul Hobbs),Is from the Sonoma Mountain area and is a perfect marriage of napa and russian river pinot. Rich ripe chocolate covered cherry in the nose violet and coffee and lots of spice up to and through the finish. $43 01 Woodward and Graff A frame vineyard Cabernet-100% Cabernet from 30 year old vineyards. Very full nose of black fruit and chocolate with notes of casis and anise. Nicely balance but very present tannic structure. Long lingering spice out the finish. $39 03 Patz and Hall Chardonnay- this is a very big yet balanced chard. I got cinnamon baked peach in the nose with good citrus and ginger and hazelnut and oak and spice. 75% new french oak. $44 02 Brown Zin- Very full rich dark fruit with notes of blackberry raspberry and chocolate with great balance of pepper and spice out the finish. Excellent. $39 02 D-�ubed Napa- 50-75% brown fruit. Very full bodied round full mouth feel with deep black fruit and raspberry, loads of mocha and spice with a rich spicy finish. this is a fantastic zin. $29 02 Stepping Stone ( 2nd label of Cornerstone)- Zinfandel- very nice napa hillside fruit with a solid medium mouthfeel. great notes of blackberry and raspberry with nice light spice and white pepper through the finish. $32 02 Dashe Dry Creek Zin- this is a fantastic example of the dry creek appalachian. Very tight raspberry and blackberry balanced perfectly with white and black pepper going out the finish. a small blend of petite syrah really fattens out the mid palate. $26 01 Madrigal Zin- this is a great napa floor zinfandel. very appealing nose and notes of blackfruit and raspberry with soft hints of chocolate and mocha and blueberry in the mid with a rich spicy finish. $26 01 Schuetz Oles Korte Ranch Zin- if you like old vine this one is 107 years of age. Deep earthy and spicy and loads of intense fruit. This zin never fails to please. Also this is the 2nd to last vintage so its good to stock up on it. $20 02 Bella Big River Zin- deep rich earth russian river zin with ripe almost late harvest fruit with porty nose and rich full palate. $39 02 Biale Old Crane-This is a huge zinfandel with big black fruit and sour cherry and blueberry and raspberry and mocha coffee and loads and loads of layered spices leading you out the finish. very very good. $49 And now for the Blends 00 A.S. Kiken (Reverie) Cab/cab franc/ merlot-this is a great bordeaux blend from the diamond mountain district which is one of the only hills in napa that hints at the actual bordeaux style with a flinty mineral quality in the late palate. $36 03 Jazz- this is from Brahnam winery in napa and is a blend of Cabernet, Petite Syrah and Zinfandel..about a third of each. very unique style and flavor but is an excellent food wine. sold out.03 due in April 05 03 Pazzo-This is a blend of Sangiovese and petite syrah. great notes of strawberry cherry blueberry and violets with mocha and spice through the finish. $27 Futures 00 Schuetz Oles Vesuvium- a very unique blend of 75% zin and 25% cabernet makes this a great game or steak wine. big and spicy with good balance. $27 01 Crocker Starr stone Place Cuvee- this is an exquisite bordeaux blend that is very similar to the Viader. bold but smooth palate and nose with black fruit and casis and licorise and leather and tobacco through the mid with a long dry spicy finish. $62 01 Von Strasser Sori Bricco- this is a cab merlot blend that is very austere in the forepalate and has intense fruit and spice and tannins through the finish. full bodied and rich this will lay down for a while but is very aproachable. $65 now $41 03 Zonte's Footstep Cab/Malbec blend-this is a great BBQ wine. smokey meaty flavors in the front with great aussi fruit and spice out the finish. $15 99 Truchard Reserve Cabernet- This is a fantastic house for California wines. Their Trademark is full bodied rich powerful wines and this cab is no exception. Notes of Plum, cherry, blackfruit and raspberry with mid palate of mocha and coffee and great tannic backbone. Also from a great vintage. $59 01 Richard Perry Cab-Spicy aromas with layers of complexity: blackberry, cedar, menthol, tobacco, plum and cassis with wispy violet notes, dried herbs, pepper and cumin. Blackberry, plum and cassis fruit on the palate framed by firm tannins, dark chocolate, cola and coffee linger in the finish. The wine is approachable, round and concentrated upon release but will continue to flesh out in the bottle. Drink or hold 6-12 years. 01 Franus Cab-this is also a very up and coming house in Napa. This cab is very fruit driven with austere notes of black cherry , mocha, chocolate, coffee, pepper, balanced tannins and great spice. $48 00 Calafia- this is down 10 dollars from last year. from the wine maker and facilities and fruit of Hess Collection this pet project is a great great cabernet with beautiful balance and great tannins and finish. If you know Hess you will love this wine. $29 01 Freestone Cab-Deep intense color in the glass is followed by aromas of strawberry and cherry with highlights of toasty vanilla. The palate is long and full and perfectly balanced. Refreshing acidity, wonderful flavors of berries, chocolate, and clove. Finishes with silky smooth tannins and supported by great length. $21 Liparita Cabernet-the wine making team at Liparita has produced a wine from several vineyard sites and flavor profiles to capture the essence of our vision of Cabernet Sauvignon. Vineyards from Spring Mountain, Rutherford, St. Helena, and Oak Knoll mesh in a manner that leaves no other conclusion that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. The different vineyard sites each contribute a component to the flavors and aromas; broad palate and structure from the valley floor, olive, cassis and extract from Spring Mountain. The inclusion of Merlot increases the complexity and richness of the blend. This wine was aged for 20 months in French barrels. This 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon promises classic aromas and flavors. It has a sturdy backbone of black fruit and cassis and soft wood with hints of white pepper, cocoa, nutmeg and allspice. Careful barrel selection has contributed a background of broad, but velvety, tannins that frame a well defined palate. While this Cabernet Sauvignon will reward current drinking, it will continue to improve with age for several more years. was 45 now $24 02 Ramspeck Cabernet-Cabernet Sauvignon 75%, Cabernet Franc 16 %, Merlot 9% he Alexander Valley fruit has proved to be yet again a great addition to the Napa Valley cabernet giving a diverse range of dark black cherry fruits that compliment the ripe blackberry anise character of the Napa fruit $23 02 CJ Melka-from Phillipe Melka of Matisse this is mostly metisse fruit and was a real stand out. Very velvety plum blackberry and black fruit were prominent in the fore-palate with notes of licorice anise mocha coffee bakers chocolate vanilla and spice leading into a great backbone. There is no metisse this year which is normally $95 the Melka is only $49 a fantastic buy.

This has amazing lush rich fruit on the fore-palate with full cherry violets coffee vanilla _mocha spice and berry and a long lingering smooth round finish. $29 2000 Sebastopol Vineyards dutton ranch Pinot noir- This is a great russian river pinot with full cherry and sour cherry and notes of earthy spice and pepper along with chocolate and mint. Nice finish great fruit. $20 01 Old World laughlin Pinot Noir- This stunningly rich deep pinot noir comes from the martinelli vineyard in windsor that many of thier finest wines have come from. This has a deep rich smokey earthy nose with full cherry _mocha chocolate meaty spiciness through the mid palate with a very full yes smooth finish that lingers on till the next sip. burgundy fans will love this. $25

Lippartia Merlot 1998-Strong aroma of black cherry currant and plum. Toasty oak coffee and spice through the mid palate with chocolate and dark fruit towards the finish. was $48 now $22 01 Carver Sutro Petite Syrah--this wine left the table silent in awe. 5 brokers out of 6 agreed this was possibly the best petite we have ever seen. Find out what the bench mark of petite syrah tastes like. $55

Huge nose segues into a full mouth palate. loads of spice make this an excellent food wine. $35 02 Dashe Dry Creek Zin- this is a fantastic example of the dry creek appalachian. This is the zin for you. they just dont get much bigger than this. (even you Helen Turley). $49 2002 Laughing Magpie Shiraz/Viognier- this is a very unique Australian blend. A wonderful shiraz with 7% viognier added that really adds a roundness and fullness to the fruit and accentuates the flavors very nicely. Robert Parker gave this 93 points and commented, �this is the la mouline of the mclauren vale. An exotic heady flamboyantly styled red." $35 02 D-Cubed Zin to our list. This excellent zin shares the fruit source and winemaker from Brown winery, highly sought after in its own right. Both of these were in the top percentile at ZAP this year. The D-Cubed showed excellent fruit integrity and nose was impeccable. Raspberry blackberry and candied cherry with a smooth round mouth feel and a spicy lingering finish with notes of white pepper and bell spice. Very defining of the varietal. $29 2001 Sebastopol vineyards dutton ranch Syrah- this is a rich spicy earth full bodied syrah from the russian river. Raspberry and cherry with pepper and cedar and spice. great for late season bar-b-que's. $20 02 Dasche Dry Creek Zin- This winery has always been great but this time they have topped themselves. wonderful fruit and spice in the front of this Zin. raspberry and black berry with notes of white and black pepper throughout. great spicey finish . $26
White Wines
Hollywood and vine 2480 chardonnay-Delicate floral and tropical fruit on the nose and fore-palate. A touch of stone fruit and extraordinary viscosity with hints of vanilla and full mouth feel. Very martinelli like in style. spicy well balanced finish. $49 First the 1999 Sara's vineyard Chardonnay- this had a great nose of honey apricot pear and cr�me brule. Very soft palate with notes of hazelnut and oak with nice spicy finish and great lingering spice. Was $65 now $25. 01 Vine Cliff Napa Chardonnay- this is a big beautiful rich chard with rich pear apricot tropical fruit and creamy oaky tones. Very full flavors with great balance of oak citrus acids and spice through the finish. this was $42 now $24 2002 August Briggs Carneros "Leveroni Vineyards" Chardonnay: This is the seventh release from this highly acclaimed vineyard. Moderate crop levels, coupled with a long growing season allowed these twenty five year old vines to produce fruit with intense aromas of pear and fig, as well as, flavors of melon and honey and butterscotch, Big and rich. 280 cases produced. $37.00 a bottle 2002 Morgan Metallico Chardonnay- this is a unique California chard as it is done in 100% steel tank fermentation and uses no MaloLactic Fermentation. This means that this is a fruit forward clean crisp chard that pairs very well with almost anything on your fall picnic. $19 Tramani 02 Pinot Gris- Orange peel and citrus lemon spice and pear. A very clean crisp palate great for summer $16

I just had a great conversation with my Australian importer. I got all my wines from Down Under on special for the month of November. Most of these wines are from D'arenberg Winery. Notes of blueberry, blackberry and wild berry highlight the palate with nuances of clove and pepper. 90 points RP. This was $24 now $17 a bottle. 03 D'arrenberg Footbolt Shiraz - 90 points RP - This is also a nice, spicy, full-bodied wine. There is a little Grenache in here which gives it a great sour cherry kick toward the late palate. Very tasty. was $25 now $19. 03 D'arenberg Laughing Magpie Shiraz/viognier- This is a stunning syrah and the 5% Viognier really softens and fattens up the mid-palate of this wine. Delectable flavors of blackberry, cherry, coffee, mocha and loads of subtle spices make this a great wine for the Thanksgiving table. This has consistantly gotten 92-96 point ratings over the past few years. Was $38 now $29. 03 Innocent Bystander Shiraz-The 2003 Shiraz/Viognier offers an exotic marmalade and black currant-scented nose, medium body, no hard edges, plenty of fruit, little oak, and a lovely finish. Drink it over the next 2-3 years. This screw cap-finished offering reveals good flavor, an up-front, fruity personality, and limited aging potential. This was $25 and now $20. 2002 Leeuwin Estate Shiraz Art Series-The impressive 2002 Shiraz Art Series, reveals subtle notes of spicy oak along with a notion of minty creme de cassis aromas and flavors. Medium- to full-bodied with decent acidity, it will drink really well over the next 5-7 years. This was $35 and now $29. 2004 Zonte's Footstep Shiraz/Viognier (70% of the former and 30% of the latter) Huge nose along with plenty of exotic tropical fruit and litchi nut notes. Medium-bodied with wonderful fruit, a soft texture, and an easy-going finish, Drinking very well now. This also got 90 pts and was $23 and is now $17. 2002 D'Arenberg The Custodian Grenache- The Custodian Grenache reveals that varietal's classic characteristics of crushed pepper, kirsch liqueur, licorice, and sweet red and black fruits. Dense, full-bodied, lavishly rich, and opulently-textured, with layers of flavor, it drinking well now. This was $25 and is now $19. 04 Zonte's Footstep Cab/Malbec-A top-notch bargain from this creative winery is the deep ruby Cabernet/Malbec. Aromas of raspberries, coffee beans, and assorted red and black fruits are followed by a medium-bodied, pure red with decent acidity as well as structure. Drink this delicious, surprisingly complex blend over the next 2-3 years. Was $22 now $15. 04 Leeuwin Est Prelude Chardonnay- One of Australia�s most profound Chardonnay Producers. This exhibits buttered pear, honeyed citrus, lemon blossom, and apple-like fruit in a medium- to full-bodied format with good acidity as well as a cooler climate mouthfeel and finish. It should drink well for 5-6 years. Was $29 now $20. N.V. Chambers Rosewood Vineyards Tokay- This wine is a great buy. The wine exhibits a light- to medium- amber color as well as an extraordinary bouquet of molasses, brown sugar, roasted nuts, and sweet fruitcake. Juicy, sweet yet fragrant and well-balanced in the mouth, this is a spectacular fortified wine to savor slowly after dinner. After bottling it neither improves nor declines, and is capable of lasting up to a couple of decades. This was $25 now $15. 2001 D'arenber Shiraz Port- Black fruit, roasted charcoal, and balsamic characteristics and a full-bodied, rich, moderately sweet finish. They used the same grapes to fortify the wine which really backs up the flavor. Wonderfully done. Was $30 now $20. A 375ml. 2003 The Dead Arm Shiraz, one of the greatest examples of this cuvee. Its dense black/purple color is accompanied by rich aromas of melted licorice, graphite, blackberries, cassis, incense, anise, and toasty oak. Well concentrated, with great purity and texture, and an amazingly long, 60-second plus finish, and should drink well over the next 20-25 years. This was $75 now $65.
