Drinking too much, working too little - 14 March 2004

Writing in here is working, isn’t it?  I’m very depressed today, for last night Holmes was visiting from Hong Kong.  He seemed very dubious about my idea of becoming a copywriter although he did say that if I decide to go for it then I should go at it all out.  He said a number of people who try it fail, and that one knows pretty soon whether or not one has what it takes.

As for getting into and ad firm, he says I’d be up against “all the big guns” and that the only way to move is to have a great book with lots of awards.  He suggested I just start writing ads on my own – to generate a book of sorts – and that this is the only way to really go forward.

Anyway, it was Macawber, myself and Holmes for most of the evening; we talked about Cato, who Macawber and Holmes are both worried about given his new domestic situation, as well as about women women women.  Our trip to Bangkok was tremendous fun last year.

This is a shit boring entry and I’m really not in the mood.

But lest you despair of this page being a waste, check out the below link.  It may prove most useful should you head to Bangkok. This establishment comes with my staunch endorsement.
