Daniel entered our lives on August 29, 2005 when we rescued and fostered him after a friend, Lisa Mueller, informed us that there was a 4-year-old male sheltie impounded at Evansville Animal Control. When we rescued Daniel, he had been at Animal Control 10 days - well past the 7 day limit AC must hold animals before they may be destroyed. He was a stinky, mangy mess, but through all the bathing, mat-pulling, nail trimming, and teeth scaling, Daniel never uttered a word. His sweet little face just showed his gratefullness at being fussed over.
Daniel was the sweetest, gentlest sheltie I have ever met. He loved everyone and got along with other dogs and small children. I could not fathom how someone did not turn over heaven and earth looking for this little guy when he got lost. Only Daniel knows the true story of his past life. Daniel must have had some adventures, though. His little left ear was permanently bent at an odd angle with scar tissue from some previous injury.
Daniels's story has a happy ending, though. On September 13, 2005, Daniel went to his forever home. The family of Terry Hall of Boonville, Indiana adopted Daniel into their lives where he was renamed Stitch. Stitch has inherited a brother - 8 year old sheltie, Buster - and a 19 year old owner, Amy, who loves and fusses over him constantly.
Have a good life, Daniel. We miss you and will never forget you. |
