"Unfurling"
These three paintings are from my senior thesis exhibition at The University of Montana in the spring of 2001.

If your thoughts and emotions were living, three-dimensional beings, what would they look like?
.  We as humans connect and interact with each other on many levels - through touch, through our actions and words, and even in  our deep, unspoken thoughts.  Is there a sort of  fabric that connects us all, flowing around and  between our souls, winding through our minds?
The growing, twisting forms in these landscapes are my visual interpretations of the subconscious patterns, urgings, and tensions that drive us as living beings.  I use images from my own dreams, as well as the swirling textures that I find visually appealing, to create an abstract representation of desires and natural movement.
On paper and canvas, these living thought-forms exhibit their complexities (represented with folds and wrinkles) as well as the ways in which they connect to each other.  They display their own personalities as they bend, reach, and thrive.
