| ...............................Main Ingredients.......................................................................................................Marinade/Dressing 1 lb. package macaroni twists, cooked and drained.....................11/2 cups white vinegar 2/3 cup vegetable oil............................................................................................................11/2 cups white sugar 1 lg. cucumber, peeled and thinly sliced.....................................................1 teaspoon salt 1 lg. onion, peeled and thinly sliced..................................................................1 teaspoon parsley .........................................................................................................................................................................2 teaspoons prepared mustard .........................broccoli flowerettes......................................................................................1/2 teaspoon garlic powder ...........................tomato wedges.................................................................................................1/2 teaspoon black pepper |

| .............Coat cooked macaroni with vegetable oil. Add cucumber and onion slices. Stir in the dressing and marinate several hours or overnight. Drain before serving. | .......................................................Eggless, Milkless, Butterless Cake ..................................................................(or Depression Cake)......[makes 2 loaves] ......Ingredients 2 cups brown sugar................................................................1 package seedless raisins 2 cups hot water............................................................................1 teaspoon cinnamon 2 tablespoons shortening.........................................1 teaspoon cloves 1 teaspoon salt................................................................................3 cups flour ....................1 teaspoon baking soda (mixed with a tsp. of water) |

| Boil together the brown sugar, water, shortening, salt, raisins, and spices for 5 minutes. When cold, add the baking soda. Pour into two loaf pans and bake until tester inserted in center of loaves comes out clean. 350 degrees for approximately 45 minutes to one hour .... times may vary depending upon loaf pan size |

| 1 1/2 pounds of pork, cut into strips...........................3 Tablespoons brown sugar 1 large onion , sliced.....................................................................1 1/2 Tablespoons white vinegar 1 large green pepper, cut in strips................................1 1/2 teasoons salt 4 ounce can of mushrooms, drained..........................2 teaspoons Worchestershire sauce .........................................................................8 ounce can tomato sauce ............Brown the pork, drain on paper towels. Place the meat and all other ingredients in the crock-pot. ..........................Cook on Low for 6--8 hours or on High for 4 hours Serve over rice, noodles, or even mashed potatoes When doubling this recipe, do not double the salt, and replace a second can of tomato sauce with a 6 ounce can of tomato paste. You may also substitute the pork with beef, chicken, turkey, etc. |
