| These pictures are of a room... a makeshift efficiency. Look carefully amid the piles of trash, (in the latter photos) and you'll see a dirty old refrigerator and a table. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Garbage was piled from one end of the room to the other... reaching to the windows and top of the mattress in some places. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The bed was not stripped of its bedding... it never had any... just a blanket thrown over the mattress and another to use as a cover. This is the state of this one lonely alcoholic's room in the last days of his life... and who knows for how long really, because he had shut out all of his family years before. For me, it is the last memories that I have of my own father... who was discovered in this room approximately 9 days after his demise. And nothing I could have done would have prevented it. |
