Secret Admirers By Anne
Jo gaped as she saw the huge bunch of flowers placed in the middle of
her desk.
‘Joanna,’ PJ grinned. ‘What were you up to last night?’
Jo sent him a dirty look and searched for a card. ‘There’s no note!’
‘Maybe you’ve got a secret admirer,’ Jack said, looking disappointed.
‘Whatever it is, we have police work to do,’ Tess reminded them.
Jo admired the flowers for a moment and then placed them in her locker.
Jack looked on with interest but turned back to his reports when she
came back in.

‘Nice flowers,’ Chris commented as the group came to the Imperial that
night. ‘Who are they from?’
‘No idea,’ Jo reminded.
‘Jo’s got a secret admirer,’ Ben told her.
‘Really? I had a secret admirer once,’ Chris smiled, reminising.
‘Really? I didn’t know the Boss was into sending flowers,’ PJ grinned.
‘Do you want a drink or not?’ Chris warned him.
‘I’ll just put these in some water,’ Jo said.
‘Better take Jack with you, I had to move the vases.’
‘Right,’ Jo answered. ‘Come on Stretch, lend me a hand.’
Jack followed her into the kitchen. He reached up and pulled down a
vase, which he estimated would fit the flowers nicely. ‘So, Jo, any idea
who your secret admirer is?’
‘Nope,’ Jo replied. ‘But he does have a nice taste in flowers. And he
knew that yellow roses were my favourite.’
‘Smart guy,’ Jack told her.
Jo looked at him. ‘Are you jealous?’
‘Me? No way! Come on, let’s get dinner.’
A bemused Jo followed Jack out to the bar.

Jo smiled at the single yellow rose that lay on her desk the next morning.
‘He has struck again, has he?’ Ben asked.
Jo nodded. ‘This time there’s a note with it.’
‘Well, don’t keep us in suspense. What does it say?’ PJ asked.
Tess and Tom looked on as well.
‘Dear Jo. I know you and you know me. I once suggested we sleep under
the stars together. Love SA,’ Jo read.
‘Mhm. A mystery man,’ Tess said.
‘Back to work,’ Tom told them, shaking his head.

Jo raised an eyebrow as she saw a yellow rose with a note laying on her
pillow. She opened the note."
‘Dear Jo. You worked hard today. Still don’t know who I am? I was there
when you had boyfriend troubles with Andy. And I was there with
Adam Janos. And I was there with the cowboy.’
Jo’s eyes widened. That narrowed it down! The person who had been
with her throughout. No. He wouldn’t do this. He was too shy.

‘Chris?’ Jo asked, wandering down into the bar area. ‘Was there anyone
who wanted to get in my room today?’
Chris smiled. ‘I am bound by secrecy. I cannot tell.’
‘But you know?’
‘Maybe,’ Chris replied.
Jo groaned in frustration.
**************************************
‘Well Jo, anymore love letters?’ Ben asked the next day.
‘Maybe,’ Jo replied.
‘Joanna. You do have a secret admirer,’ PJ grinned, taking Jack out on a
patrol.
Jo sighed.

That night, another note had appeared on Jo’s bed.
‘Dear Jo. I love you. Meet me up at Lover’s Leap. I’ll be riding.’
That confirmed it. Jo grinned as she got her things. She knew who it was.
***************************************
‘Hey Stretch,’ Jo smiled at the lone figure standing, looking at the view.
‘Thanks for the roses.’
Jack turned around and smiled. ‘Glad you liked them.’
Jo moved a bit closer. ‘Never knew you were such a romantic.’
Jack shrugged as he closed the gap between them. ‘Only for you,’ he
grinned, as their lips met.
