The Alternative Maggie/PJ Mine Scene By Anne
Another take on the Episode Gold
VERY fragmented because I haven't seen any of it!
Okay, here we go! BTW,I tried to do the whole ep, but it just didn't work!
So, here's the mine scene
Jo and Jack were back at the mine...again, Jo noted uncomfortably.
'Hey! A crucible,' Jack told her.
Jo narrowed her eyes and all of a sudden the earth shattered as there was
an explosion.
'Jack?' Jo asks, fumbling around in the dark.
'Here,' Jack said, reaching his hand out to her.
'I'm claustrophobic,' she groans.
'There's nothing wrong with that,' Jack replied, sitting her next to him.
A FEW HOURS LATER
'Where have those two got to?' PJ asked, rubbing his forehead.
'Have a mintie,' Maggie smiled. 'You're stressed.'
PJ nods and bites into the mintie, letting out a roar of pain.
MINE
'They don't intend on finding us in a hurry do they?' Jo asked, wrapping
her arms around herself.
'Yeah, Burt Burgess is all out of nerve,' Jack replied.
'Burt would do anything Kinsella told him Jack, we both know it,' Jo
replied, matter of factedly.
'The worse case scenario is this look, this is tonight and by Thursday
morning the old alarms bells will go off,' Jack replied.
'Thursday,' Jo said slowly.
'It's 40, 48 hours max Jo,' Jack smiled.
'I can count,' Jo snapped.
'It's no problem,' Jack explained.
'Oh no problem at all. I'll just curl up in the foetal position and try to
forget that I've been buried alive shall I?' Jo replied sarcastically.
'Well at least you've got good company,' Jack replied, suggestivally.
'Oh that is so bloody typical. You can't deal with anybody else's feelings
but your own so you've got to make a joke of it,' Jo groaned.
'What am I supposed to be dealing with here?' Jack asked, bemused.
'I can't believe I've been working with you all this time, and you still
don't know the first thing about me do you?' Jo sighed.
'Well you've got, you've got 48 hours and a captive audience, now do you
wanna try me?' Jack asked, raising an eyebrow.
'They're still not back,' PJ groaned, pacing. 'And my tooth hurts!'
Maggie sighed. 'Don't be a baby PJ. I'm sure there fine. Go make an
appointment with the dentist.'
MINE
'Relationships and police work they just don't mix. You know someone should
really write that in the rule book I think,' Jo stated.
'Yeah, well maybe what they should write is err.... you shouldn't fall in
love like someone like your Dad,' Jack grinned.
'That there's my problem. I think that's the sort of lot that I'm stupid
enough to fall in love with,' Jo giggled.
'What did he say?' PJ asked, as Maggie hung up the phone.
'He said it sounds like a root canal problem. You'll have to go and see
him.'
PJ groaned.
'It's not that bad,' Maggie said, raising an eyebrow.
'Not the dentist! I was hoping that was someone with a confession,' PJ told
her.
'We should be so lucky,' Maggie answered.
'Jo?' Jack asked.
'Yeah?'
'How do you know he's like your Dad?'
'Go to sleep,' she answered.
'They're still missing?' Tom boomed.
'Yes. We haven't heard from them since they left,' Maggie answered.
'I always ere, I always thought love was one of those chemistry things you
know?' Jack laughed. 'I must be getting fussy in my old age. And now I
think it is, I think it's more like what my um, my father's got with my
Mum, you know like beauty, intelligence, strength of character..'
'Old age? Yeah right Stretch. For all of which your mother scores
exceptionally high marks I take it?' Jo asked.
'Ohh.. .yeah, out of a score of 1 to 10 she's a toppy,' Jack smiled.
'That's a pretty tough act to follow,' Jo answered.
Jack laughed. 'Yeah.' He paused for a moment. 'There is, there is one
person I know.. who comes pretty close. Umm, I guess if I lose her, I lose
her for good.'
'And how does she feel about that?' Jo asked, moving closer.
'I don't know, I've often wondered. But you know, I've tried to tell her I
just, (sort of grumbles) I just never found the right words. But then,
then she said I was, well she told me I was too much like her Dad, and,
couldn't take a chance on that. So, that's the end of that,' Jack sighed.
'Ahh, maybe she, never knew what a big chance you were prepared to take on
her?' Jo said softly.
'You think she understands now?' Jack asked, moving closer.
They move in together and share a long deep kiss.
'Yep,' Jo smiled, taking off her jacket, 'she understands now.'
Jack smiled back and took her in his arms, kissing her breathless.
Then well, use your imaginations guys. It was all in the other episode!
