Actor plays an Olympic role
Blue Heelers’ Jane Allsop could not believe she was part of the Olympic Games.
As an actress, the prospect of making an Olympic Games team was slim.
But she became part of an 11,000-strong team when she carried the Olympic flame along Victoria’s Great Ocean Road near Peterborough.
"Apart from being freesing, this is very exciting," she said as hail started to pelt the torch bearers gathering to catch the official bus to the run site.
"I didn’t ever think I would be part of this. I just hope I don’t fall flat on my face and drop the flame in a puddle. I’ve got visions of getting caught up in a storm and falling down in to the water."
Allsop’s father, who ran in the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, was there to cheer her on.
