My Salt Air Cure
Summer is here and the time is right for Blue Heelers star Jane Allsop to wriggle out of her police woman’s uniform and slip into her favourite cossie for some beach therapy. For the past three months Jane has been experiencing severe sand-between-the-toes deprivation and only a good fix of salt air and sun-tanning will cure her work blues.
‘I go crazy when I haven’t been to the beack for a while - I need my hit. The beach brings me back to normality,’ says Jane.
‘The ocean really puts everything back into perspective for me. I love going exploring along the rocks, camping by the beach and simply getting back to nature.’
However her love of the great outdoors isn’t always a bed of roses for Jane as she’s susceptible to two of Australia’s wors summer nuisances - sunburn and mozzie bites.
‘I really must have the tastiest blood in the world.’
Jane’s Summer Diet
A menu filled with fresh fruits, vegetables and seafood is the perfect healthy summer fare for Jane.
‘I eat a lot more fresh fruit in season. Mangoes, pineapples, nectarines, peaches, strawberries, the list goes on. In summer it’s nice to have a chicken salad and some fresh fruit - something lighter and not so filling.
‘I’m the queen of quick and easy stir fry. I cook them like they are going out of fashion. THey are so fast, so healthy and so yummy.’
Jane’s Tips for a Fit Beach Body
When she’s in the mood for excersise, Jane only has to walk a few steps to her very own home gym.
‘I belive I have to work at keeping my figure in shape,’ she says. ‘I’ve bought some weights and fitness equipment so I can do my excersises and fitness routine at home whenever I get the time.
‘I try to work out six times a week and have found that half an ohur of cardio work and half an hour of weights, followed by some stretches and sti-ups to finish off, is my ideal routine.’
