To describe Allan Teegl and Simon Teagle as Blue Heelers fans would be akin to calling Julian O’Neill a bit of a drinker. The self-described idiots last week travelled across two states in their 1978 model Honda Civic to get to the filming of the 300th episode at Castlemaine in rural Victoria, an event they were not going to miss - "come hell or high water", as Allan put it. And as it turned out, the area around Castlemaine was flooded the day before shooting and the pair, who’ve missed only two episodes in the show’s seven-year run, drove through hood-high waters during their 21-hour trip from Alice Springs. Simon revealed they became slightly concerned when they passed a Commodore and a 4WD that had stalled trying to get through the floods but nothing was going to stop the intrepid couple. "I would’ve carried the car on my head to get here," Allan said. How they’ll cope when the show finally wraps up - ages from now, we’re sure - doesn’t bear thinking about.
