Interview On Miss Singapore
2001
Home

1.Who are your heroes?

My mother and Mr. Lee Kwan Yew, the Senior Minister of Singapore.

2.What is the most interesting or unique thing that has ever happened to you (aside from winning your title)?

The extreme adoration I received from my fiance's four year old nephew because a child's affection is genuine and given unconditionally. In addition, my ability to influence him has made me more conscious about my actions and also given me an inkling to what motherhood may be like.

3.List any special training you have had (music, art, drama, etc.).

I learned the piano when I was younger and mastered most percussion instruments as a teenager.

4.What is your career ambition? What are you doing or plan on doing to accomplish that goal?

Before winning my title, I wanted to be an IT entrepreneur and am pursuing my Bachelor's degree in computing. However, since the pageant, I have been presented with new and exciting opportunities which I would like to explore to the fullest. Ultimately, being happy means a lot to me, and I will choose the path which can lead me to a joyful and fulfilling life.

5. Descibe where you were raised. Was it a small village, a town, on a farm, in the country, or in a large city?

Singapore is a city. I grew up in a three bedroom apartment (public housing). I definitely remember the nearby market that had excellent food. (Food is synonymous with Singapore culture because we love to eat!)

6. What do you hope to be doing in ten years?

I hope to be in a position where I can help make a difference in others' lives and more importantly, doing that while being happy and healthy. I also hope to be a successful woman who excels both at work and at home.

7. What is your proudest personal accomplishment (other than representing your country in this pageant)?

It's a cross between being selected as the band major in an inter-school event, and arranging a music composition for my percussion band during the annual concert when I was only sixteen.
