Midnight Sky
Silent hum
Computer drones
Thoughts racing near light speed

The city toils
Oblivious
Unconsciously into darkness

One lonely falling star
Speeding forcefully Earth bound
To be consumed by the gravitational pull

The scattering visible positions this night
So rare and yet so telling of those fears and challenges
Deep within the soul

Peace usurped by turmoil
Yet again unbidden
Fighting off this strangle hold

What is it this seeminly dense scholar of life
Has overlooked
Or maybe even denied this time

What's the point
I'm trying so hard to study
But I fear I must have forgotten the page I was on

All I can fathom are thoughts
Deep as the stars are distant
With hope scintillating in the blackness
Of a midnight sky
