Attire

The main part of the attire required for these dances is the pair of shoes only and surprisingly nothing else.

Shoes
A pair that fits like a surgical glove that hugs the fingers and the hand. Thus although one is wearing footwear yet the feel is there of moving bare foot, and so one is able to take every step with the distinct feel of the floor. It also assists one to take a strong grip on the floor with every step. The firm grip can almost be compared with the firm handgrip when doing a monkey crawl on a rope.

A pair that keeps the toes comfortably together such that they can work as a team. This is very similar to the bandaging of the hands and fingers, before slipping on the boxing gloves.

A heel is a must. However the height of the heel is not important. One should be able to run or jog comfortably for a distance of fifty metres without any discomfort to the feet.

Leather sole is recommended as it gives the right kind of friction on the floor, along with considerable durability and strength for thin soles, as compared to other materials, such as rubber and plastic. Also leather forms the closest material, in comparison with its composition to our skin.

Clothes
One can wear just about any thing, so long as one is able to perform all the natural movements with ease and comfort. The most important are the body movements. If ones body movements are good, they become evident through whatever garments that are draped over the body. The garments just flow as dictated by one's body.

One thing is very important to make a note of, is that one must wear clothes to enhance ones beauty. Dancing in nude is the most difficult task that takes many years to perfect, and the success is rarely guaranteed.

To explain about nudity and body movement lets take a small example.
A) Here the muscular movement needed is as in the case of the athletes taking part in a race. The camera zooms in on their body and/or feet to highlight the rhythm and the rippling muscles in action. It is such a wonderful sight that invariably any and every cameraman shoots this instinctively and the majority of the audience observe with appreciation, deep respect and thrill.

B) The movements should be as such that even the people, irrespective of their background, who are attracted with the lure of nudity, sex, exhibitionism, etc. on seeing the dance are totally transformed, and the only thought that remains is that "Please keep dancing, please do not stop. I beg you, please..."

Both the above points together form the true dance that transforms the audience and the dancers to a different world. A world of tranquillity, where the time, heat, cold, hunger, emotions, etc; all cease to exist. Achieving such a mental and physical state is also termed as achieving of the "Nirvana". "Nirvana" was probably achieved through a Special Dance once upon a time in India, Kathak, Bharat Natyam, Mohini Attam, Odisi, Kuchipudi, etc. being it's off shoots, explains the reason for the many nude and semi-nude statues and paintings of archaeological, cultural and historic value, which are in dance poses. Many are of individuals, however there are quite a few that show pair dancing as in today's dances of the Dance-Sport. One such miniature bronze statue's photograph, of a pair dancing is uploaded on this site under the heading "God Dancing?"

The other part of aesthetics in nudity is that one invariably, many a times subconsciously compares it with that of a child or an infant. As one ages with time, maintaining both the mind and the body is a Herculean task. And also in today's age of specialisation we normally concentrate on a single specialised task, often neglecting the other important fields that are equally necessary for us, which in turn retards the real completeness in development and progress for a comfortable a life. But who wants "real" as it would mean "Jack of all trades and…"

Every script of any and every religion says "All things wise and wonderful, the Lord God made them all." But with the growing demands to our respective God/Goddess, which rarely seem to get fulfilled, how can one in such circumstances then, have the patience and time to ponder upon the essence of the script and apply it in life consciously?

So generally, wearing of clothes is necessary that is comfortable, highlights and enhances the body movements.
