Hey, this is Wes! Wow, what a day IndieFest was! The day sure had its ups and downs, let me tell ya! The rain caused the festival to go on an hour delay right from the beginning! Apparently, the festival couldn't have been moved inside because the carpets were just cleaned. Talk about craziness.
Finally, the concert got underway with Figure of Speech, but unfortunately the crowd size was small, and it remained small for the rest of the day! The rain drove people away from the concert, which was sad.
After the first three bands played, it started raining again and we were delayed another hour. Hey Thomas was supposed to play at 3:15 PM, but we didn't take the stage until about 4:30 PM, which was actually pretty good. There were several hard working people getting the stage set up as fast as they could so the festival would remain on schedule.
We played a pretty good set, but our monitors were messed up and I couldn't hear anyone. All I could hear was Niver playing drums and Ben singing. Zach's congas sounded pretty good, but that's because I was standing right next to him. Sometimes I didn't even think my guitar was going through the speaker, but oh well. We still had fun and did the best we could do.
I was talking to a guy at the merchandise table who works at Praises Bookstore in Chillicothe. I'm pretty sure he's the main manager. Anyway, he really liked our set and wanted to know if Hey Thomas would wanna play at Praises Bookstore sometime. I told him "sure". So look for Hey Thomas to be performing a concert at Praises sometime in the near future. Heck, go to Praises and tell 'em how much you want to see Hey Thomas perform!
After we played our set we went to Pizza Hut in Chillicothe. All except Ben because he had to hit some graduation parties. Speaking of which, Ben just graduated high school! It's been the best fifteen years of his life!
Anyway, like I was saying, we went to Pizza Hut with the rest of the band and a few friends, and Niver picked himself up a girlfriend! She was about four years old, and she was blowing Niver kisses and everything! He didn't get a number, though. Ha ha!!
Overall, IndieFest was an awesome experience. Rick May heard us play, and apparently he liked our sound. But I heard that through the grapevine; I didn't actually talk to the guy. I talked to the manager of Praises Bookstore in Chillicothe, and he wants Hey Thomas to play at the bookstore. So, look for us to do a show at Praises in the near future. We got to talk to lots of cool people in lots of cool bands, too. I would especially like to say "Hey" to Chris Van Buskirk from Mizmor and the entire band Covenant. You guys are good people.
Also, we wanna thank all the Thomas Groupies for showing up and giving us their support. BIG THANKS to Chris Free for making the cool shirt with the band members' names on the back!! Great stuff, Chris. Every person who came out and sang our songs with us and showed us love is greatly appreciated. The band was talking at the end of IndieFest and we feel soooo blessed to have you guys as friends and fans. There's too many of you for me to list individually, but we'll let you know when we see you. God bless all you guys, and thanks for supporting the Hey!
