Jasper Stone, keyboardist, composer, arranger, as well as a talented vocalist is one of the busiest musicians on the music scene in Chicago and around the country today. Either performing as a side-musician or as the leader of his own group, The Jasper Stone Band his creative style is noticeable. Stone's impressive credentials include recordings and performances with The Blackbyrds, Syreeta, Zeleke, "UNI" Funkadesi, Baaro and many others. Here is an article written in the Detroit
"The Real Scoop". We know Jasper Stone as the musically talented brother of well-known Detroit attorney and businessman, Jerome Barney. But to most people throughout a vast stretch of mid-Western United States, Jasper is rapidly becoming known as Jasper Stone, the exciting entertainer with the hot new CD. A musical prodigy since the age of seven, Jasper tells the story of how he was inspired by the James Bond movie, Thunderball. I was so turned on by the character of Bond I ran home and played the Bond theme music from beginning to end. I instinctively knew where the notes were." Jasper is single (he says hes currently conducting auditions for a soul mate) and lives in Chicago. He took piano lessons as a child and studied music theory and composition in college. His primary instrument is the piano, but he also enjoys playing electric keyboards, bass and guitar. I've also been known to slam a few beats on the drum set.
Jasper's new CD, Shine Your Light, is an eclectic collection of R&B, Jazz, Funk, Reggae and Gospel. Why such a diverse style, you ask? Musically, I am the sum of my life's experiences which contain cultures from all around the world, he replies, but I'm also a true-blood, professional American musician. So man, I play every style." One of the most exciting musical moments in Jasper's career was when he was given an opportunity to play in the studio with Stevie Wonder, Jermaine Jackson and Syreeta Wright. His proudest accomplishment, however, is the completion of his CD, Shine Your Light. Shine Your Light is one of those musical experiences that you must taste for yourself, he explains. It is not something someone can easily describe to you. They can tell you that it is good and that it is hot, but to really feel it, you've got to hear a song for yourself. |
