Hamilton walked into the room and wrapped his arms around Jake. She leaned into him and he held her tightly.
�I had a nightmare. I dreamt that�he came in and�and he killed me and took the baby. I was so scared, Hamilton, please keep us safe.�
�He won�t get you.� He kissed her forehead and hugged her.
�Promise?�
�I promise.�

A few weeks later, Sarita, Will and Scout were at Friendly�s while Bella was working and Jake and Hamilton were out for a walk. Bella sat at the pump reading when she heard a car drive up. She looked up and got off her stool. She got the hose ready and when she looked back up, her whole body and mind froze. She gulped and barely could put the nozzle into the gas gauge. She felt the man�s eyes on her body. She looked up at Friendly�s, willing Scout to walk out. She finished up.
�I�ll�I�ll make change.�
�You do that.� He smiled at her.
Bella quickly walked inside. She grabbed the phone.
�Hello?�
�Is Scout there?�
�Hold on.� She heard rustling.
�Hello?�
�Call the police!� Bella said, her voice shaking.
�What�s wrong, Bella?�
�Call. The. Police.�
�What happened? Are you hurt?�
�He�s here, Scout. He�s looking at me, I can feel his eyes on me, I�m scared.� Bella started to cry.
�Okay, Bella, stay right where you are. I�m calling the police. I�ll be right there.�
�Keep Sarita safe. Where�s Jake?�
�She�s with Hamilton at Rawley Boys. Bella, I have to call the police.�
Bella nodded and hung up.

Scout hung up and quickly called the police.
Sarita noticed his frantic action. �Scout?�
Scout held up a finger and then hung up. �Go to the back.�
�What? Why?�
�Go to the back! Please!�
Sarita looked at him scared and confused. She looked out the window.
�No!�
�Oh my God! Bella�s alone!� Sarita got up.
�No!� Scout grabbed her. �Go find Will and stay put! I�m going to get her.�
�Don�t let him hurt her like he hurt me and Jake.� Sarita said with tears in her eyes.
Scout nodded, hugged her and casually walked over to the gas station. He walked into the station and hugged Bella tightly.
They walked outside and Bella handed him the change. He smirked at her until Scout wrapped his arms around her and pushed the front of her body into his side so he couldn�t see anymore. The police finally came and before he could run, Scout grabbed him and held him down.
�Scout!� Bella�s eyes widened.
Two police men grabbed the man and Scout let go.
He looked at Bella. �You�re lucky, sweetheart, you were next.�
Bella shut her eyes.
�You bastard! Don�t you ever�!� He started for the man
�Scout!� Will grabbed Scout before he could do anything. When the car drove away, Bella found herself in Sarita�s arms.

Will sat across from Bella and Scout sat next to her, holding her close. Sarita was on the phone trying to reach Jake.
�Where are they?� Will finally asked.
�Their out for a walk.� Sarita dropped the phone and sighed.
�Bella?� Scout asked.
Bella looked at him. �What if he had walked in�what if he decided to do it?�
�Bella, no. Don�t.� Scout kissed her head and held her close to him.
�Bella�we would never let him hurt you. He hurt Jake�our Jake. He hurt Sarita and look what she has now of that reminder. Sorry.� Will flinched
�It�s okay.� Sarita shrugged it off.
Will continued. �He harmed our best friend. He turned her into this person we don�t even know�that we�ve been trying to get back for 6 and a half months.�
�What does this have to do with me?�
�She blames herself, Bella. I don�t want you to go through that. She blames herself even though she knows she fought back.�
Bella started crying again and Will hugged her.
Sarita sighed and dialed again. �Jake, pick up!�
Will stood up and wrapped an arm around her while Scout talked quietly to Bella.

�Okay, Hamilton, I get the picture. The only reason you enjoy taking photos of me is because you get to show off your beautiful girlfriend.�
�I always knew you were conceited!�
�Well hey!� Jake laughed and punched him in the arm. They walked into the house and the phone rang.
�I�ll get it.� Jake ran to the phone. �Hello? Hey Sarita�hey, what�s wrong? What do you mean? Is she okay?! Oh thank God! Yes, we�ll be right there. Bye.� She hung up and sank to the floor.
�Jake?� Hamilton ran to her.
�We have to go to Bella�s.�
Hamilton nodded and helped her up. As soon as she told him, they were rushing to the gas station. They got there and Jake ran to Bella and hugged her tightly.
�Sarita, come on.� Sarita walked over and all three girls went upstairs while the boys stayed there.
�We shouldn�t have left her alone.� Will sighed.
�She�s okay, though. He didn�t even touch her.� Hamilton sat next to Will and Scout got on the other side.
�But he could have.� Scout sighed and put his face in his hands.
Will bit his lip. �I wish everything was different. I wish this never happened.�
�Me too.�
Scout looked at them. �Me too.�
They were silent after them. Three friends, not sure what to do.
Upstairs, three girls, two rape victims, sat together and talked.
�I guess I never thought it would happen to me.� Jake said with a shrug, doing her best to put her knees to her chest.
�I guess the fact that I came face to face with him scared me. Now I don�t know what to do or say.�
�No one ever does.� Sarita gave her a gentle squeeze on the arm.
Bella lay down and stared at them. �Could you have Scout come up here?�
�Yeah, we�ll get him.� Jake pulled Sarita outside and went downstairs.
�Scout, she wants to see you.� Jake said softly.
Scout looked at her and stood up. He hugged her and Sarita and went upstairs. He went into Bella�s room and sat on the edge of her bed.
�You okay?�
Bella looked at him for a minute. Scout took her hand. Bella suddenly sat up, put her hand on the back of his neck and crushed his lips to hers. Scout took a second to figure out what was going on. Finally, he kissed her back.
