Hamilton and Jake walked across the street to Friendly�s as soon as Will and Bella pulled up.
�Guys, come inside!� Jake said with a smile.
Bella and Will looked confused and walked in after them.
�Scout. Booth. Now.� Jake ordered.
And whatever Jake wanted, Jake got so Scout was at the booth in two seconds flat.
Jake sighed. �The doctor called. We know who the baby belongs to.�
Bella urged her to go on.
�It�s Hamilton�s.�
They all smiled. �Oh, that�s good Jake.�
�Yeah�well you�re still young but it�s�well you know what I mean!� Will said.
Jake looked at Hamilton. �We want to keep her.�
�Her?� Scout asked, raising an eyebrow.
�It�s a girl.� Hamilton laughed.
�Wow. That�s�wow.�
�Yeah�wow.� Jake shook her head.

Jake walked over to Friendly�s and walked inside. She sat on a stool and tapped the counter. Will finally walked out.
�Hey.�
�Hey.�
�I hear you�ve been blaming yourself.� Jake said sternly.
He looked at her but didn�t say anything.
�It wasn�t your fault this happened to me, Will.�
�I shouldn�t have sent you to town.�
�You didn�t know it�d happen, Will.�
�But if I hadn�t, this wouldn�t be happening.�
Jake bit her lip. �It would have been someone else then, Will.�
Will looked up at her from twisting a sugar glass. They didn�t say anything more.

�If you had class with her, how come you didn�t notice something was off?� Bella asked Scout as they both fixed up an old car.
�I had a problem with the dorms. Someone stole my radio and the dean needed me to identify it as mine and put it back. By the time I got to class, Jake was rushing off.�
�What about Will and Hamilton?�
�Hamilton had a hard night so he stayed in. Will had to study.�
�So you guys had no idea�?�
He shook his head. �No.�
Bella nodded and they turned hearing footsteps.
�Hey Jake.�
�Hey um��
They looked at her, concerned.
�Um�I�m gonna stay with Hamilton. It�s weird sleeping here, I feel like he can walk in even though he�s in jail.�
�I know, honey.� Bella hugged her. �We�ll get your things. Scout, can you take this.�
He nodded while Bella took Jake upstairs. Scout leaned against the car and finally let the tears fall. He kicked a bucket of water in anger and punched the gas pump. He leaned against it and nursed his hurt hand.

Jake sat on the couch while Hamilton held her close to him.
�Jake?�
�Hmm?�
�Have you been having nightmares?�
Jake shook her head. �No. Why?�
�I just noticed that you�ve been sleeping better and�it makes me happy.�
Jake smiled at him. �I�m glad. I want to make you happy.�
He smiled and kissed her softly. She wasn�t afraid to let him touch her the way he used to but sometimes she�d tense up and he�d know when to back off. He never complained and he never ran off.
She loved that about him. He loved her enough to know when she was uncomfortable.
