At the reception, everyone was having a wonderful time. Joan hadn�t had time to talk to the woman but she made sure she knew where she was. Soon it was time for the best man and maid of honor speech. Adam stood up reluctantly and took the microphone.
�Uh�I have no clue what to say.� Everyone laughed. �Um�what can I say about these two? They�re unconventional, for starters. I�ve known Grace practically my whole life and she was always the rebel. I only knew Luke because of AP Chem and even though I barely paid attention, I knew he was so smart. I mean I had the photographic memory but he could figure out the principle of matter so fast it wasn�t funny. �
Luke blushed and shook his head.
�In fact these two didn�t tell anyone about the relationship. Jane- or Joan- and I found out after coming home from the movies to see them in the dark with a movie on, not watching it at all.�
Helen and Will�s eyes widened and Grace and Luke covered their faces in embarrassment. Joan shook her head.
�Well after swearing us to secrecy and a million threats, we watched them become closer. Even though they still were unconventional, they were there for each other through good times and tough times. Out of one really tough time, came a beautiful little girl by the name of Sierra. She changed something in both Grace and Luke but still they had their personalities in the way they came together to take care of their daughter. Now as they start a journey together, I wish them nothing but happiness. Congratulations guys. Oh and Luke? If you ever hurt her, I�ll kill you.�
Luke nodded and shook Adam�s hand. Grace just rolled her eyes.
Joan stood up. �How did you like my crazy boyfriend? Okay I�m the crazy one but still!� Everyone laughed. �No in all seriousness. Grace, the same goes for you. Hurt Luke and you die. But if he hurts you, I�ll hurt him. Grace and Luke�where should I begin? The day I found out? By the way Luke, mom and dad never found out.� She winked. Helen and Will looked at each other. �Or the day I found out they were having a baby? These two have been through a lot. They�ve been each other�s rock. I�ve never seen anyone so close as I have seen Luke and Grace. When I first met Grace, she was really private and barely let me in but somehow Luke broke through that wall. I don�t know how but he did. Our family had to make a lot of changes so Luke had to make sacrifices in order to support his girlfriend and daughter. So I hope you two have a wonderful life together. You deserve it.�
Grace surprised everyone by getting up and hugging Joan. Joan hugged her back. Grace pulled away and turned to kiss Luke.
�I love you.�
�I love you too.�
Grace took the microphone. �Thanks everyone. This is�weird yet really wonderful. I just wanted to say thank you to Joan for in a way bringing Luke to me. Adam thanks for being there for me. My daughter for making me smile when I did not want to. And most of all Luke, thanks for bringing me out of my shell and letting me be there when you needed me. Thanks for being a great father. Thanks for everything.� Grace said softly.
Luke smiled and kissed her. Grace pulled away after a moment. .
�And I have a surprise for everyone.� Grace sighed. �As you know, after I had Sierra, I had some pretty bad damage inside of me that caused me to be unable to have kids.� Everyone remembered what she meant and were silent. Adam glanced over at Joan and looked at her curiously wondering why she was smiling. �Then um recently I�ve been feeling ill so I went to my doctor. She ran two tests to be sure that she was right. I don�t know how and I don�t know what kind of magic could make this happen but�Luke��
Luke looked at her nervously.
�You�re going to be a daddy again.�
Everyone gasped in surprised and started applauding. Luke looked at her in shock and Grace grinned.
�Are�are you serious?� Luke asked.
�Yes. I�m pregnant.�
�Oh�oh Grace!� Luke took her into his arms and hugged her tightly. He kissed her on the mouth and stroked her hair. �I love you.�
�I love you too.� Grace reached up and wiped the tear that was coming down his cheek. �Why are you crying, geek?�
Luke laughed. �I�m just�I�m so happy and grateful. Grateful for you, Sierra, and Matt and�� Luke hugged her again.
Adam looked at Joan and laughed. �How long have you known?�
�She just told me.� Joan said with a smile.
Adam got up and kissed her. They hugged each other and then Joan went to hug Luke.
When everyone started dancing, Joan went out to the terrace and saw the woman.
�Haven�t seen you since Luke and Grace�s engagement announcement.�
God smiled. �I�ve always been there, Joan. Who do you think stopped Matt from going into the street when he was two?�
�You?� Joan was surprised.
�You didn�t see the little girl run up and ask him if he wanted to play ball?�
�I guess I didn�t see you.�
�I was there.�
�Well thanks. Are you going to start talking to him too?�
�Depends. He�s special like you.�
�Oh great. So I better be prepared to see you in 12 years?�
�Probably.�
�So any new assignments for tonight?�
�I know what�s going through your head.�
Joan sighed. �Omniscient.�
He nodded. �Trust him, Joan.�
�I do.�
�But you�re scared.�
�Yes I am.�
God smiled.
�Oh�thanks, for Grace.� Joan said.
�That wasn�t all my doing. Sometimes doctors make mistakes when they think something is irreversible.� God walked away giving her a wave.
Joan watched Him go. Joan saw Kevin in his wheelchair dancing. Joan smiled slightly remembering how at his wedding, he was the first one on the dance floor. Then Lindsay joined him followed by Luke and Joan. All four continued dancing until everyone at the wedding joined them
Joan was so deep in her thoughts she didn�t hear Adam, Grace, and Luke join her. She jumped when Adam touched her shoulder.
�Oh Adam hey.�
�Hey. I�m sorry if I startled you.�
�Oh no, it�s all right.� She smiled. �Just thinking. Luke you must be so stoked.�
�I am. I still can�t believe it.� Luke said as he placed a hand on Grace�s stomach. Grace blushed and she looked down. �I think it�s a boy.�
�Who knows? You might be right.� Adam said.
�Okay, guys? I�m only two months along. We have a lot of time and uh besides, I want to wait to find out.�
�Really?� Luke was surprised.
�Yeah. I think it�d be cool to wait.�
�Sounds like a plan.� Luke kissed her forehead.
Adam and Joan smiled at them.
�Uncle Luke! Uncle Luke! Sierra wants to dance with you!� Matt said running over.
�Oh really? Well lead the way.� Luke allowed the little boy to pull him away.
Joan, Adam and Grace watched them.
�Well I am going to go and see how my centerpiece on the cake is holding up.� Adam gave Joan a kiss and went back inside. Grace smiled and looked at Joan.
Joan looked at her. �So��

Joan sighed and looked around. �Can I tell you something?�
�Sure, what is it?�
�I�ve decided to take the next step with Adam.�
�The next�step. Are you sure you�re ready?�
Joan nodded. �We�ve been together for five years and he�s just so�perfect. But I�m not sure if he will be ready.�
�Joan, he�s a guy living and sleeping next to a girl. The only reason he�s not all over you is because of that night.�
Joan looked at her. �You mean�he wants to?�
�Yeah. Granted I don�t want to hear about your non sex life but it was either me or Luke.�
Joan smiled. �Then what I have planned is perfect.�
�Whoa tonight? You realize I�m gonna be worried now- on my wedding night.�
�You already had your wedding night. Look where that got you.�
�Hey that was the fifth-�
�TMI! TMI! T.M.I!� Joan cried covering her ears.
Grace chuckled. �Joan. You�re sure your ready?�
�I think I am. And Grace don�t worry about me. Adam will take care of me.�
Grace nodded. �We better get back before people start asking questions.�
Joan rolled her eyes. �Oh, you�re mom�s doing all right. I�ve been keeping an eye on her.�
Grace wasn�t sure what to say. She just nodded. �You didn�t have to do that.�
�I know.� Joan replied.
They went inside and saw everyone rocking out. They started swaying to the beat and Joan went to Adam pulling him towards her so they could dance. Grace went over to Luke and danced close to him and their daughter. She moved her hips to the beat and danced beside him. He smiled and wrapped an arm around her holding her close as they danced. Grace continued to dance as if there was no tomorrow.
Across from them, Joan and Adam danced away as Matt grooved his little heart out beside them. Adam twirled Joan around and dipped her before helping her back up.
�Grace? Is all this dancing good for the baby?� Luke asked.
�Luke, if I could exercise, deal with a drunken mother, and dance around with you when I was having Sierra, then I can dance now.�
Luke was surprised. �Well�I just thought��
Grace smirked and pulled Luke in for a kiss.
�I�m fine Luke. I�m happy. I am so happy,�
Luke smiled and kissed her.

Joan walked over to her mom�s table and sat down. �Hey.�
�Hey.� Helen smiled. �I�ve lost both my boys.�
Joan smiled and looked at Kevin and Luke, whom were both talking. Grace and Lindsay were beside them.
�Yeah. They really look happy.�
Helen looked at Joan. �I�m loosing my daughter in just a few short months.� Helen stoked her cheek. �When did you grow up?�
Joan looked at her. �Four years ago.�
Helen nodded and put her hand on top of Joan�s. �You�ve made me so proud, Joan.�
�So did you.� Joan replied.
Helen gave her a hug. Joan held on for a few moments before pulling away.
�Hey. Could you watch Matt tonight?� Joan asked.
�Of course. Is anything wrong?� Helen asked.
�No I�I want to be with Adam tonight.� Joan finally admitted.
�Oh�honey, are you sure you�re ready?� Helen was concerned.
�Yes. I�ve been thinking about it for a long time. I want to do this.�
Helen took her hands and squeezed them. �As long as you�re happy and careful, you do what feels right.�
Joan smiled. �Thanks.� She hugged her.
�Oh and Joan? Don�t give me another grandchild yet. My hands are full enough with three and in seven months, I�m going to have four. I don�t want five yet.�
Joan laughed. �Okay.�
Helen smiled and shook her head. �I love you.�
�I love you too.� Joan turned and saw Adam with Matt. Matt was sleeping on his shoulder and Adam was rocking him by dancing in circles. Joan smiled at them.
