This is a copy and paste test on behalf of Farnes by Sauder. 6/3/42 departed port, arrived in area 6/10/42 0733; 6/11 1230 crossed into PZ 6/11 2130 vis sighting of Armd Merch Cruiser heading SW; 2110 vis sighting Supply Ship & Conv Fact Ship, additional ships. 2130 commence torp firing during night surface attack. Tubes 1&2: 1 dud, 1 hit on AMC; tubes 3&4: 2 prematures on CFS. Tube 6 hit and destroyed AMC @ 2134, tube 5 missed CFS. Damage from gunfire (2 hits) as follows: steering (7hrs), conning twr-hvy leak (2hrs), stern planes (7hrs), DC motor 2 (5hrs), deck gun-damaged. 2215 tubes 7&8 on CFS (1 hit/1 dud); 2116 tt9 fired on CFS hit/destroyed 2217. 6/12/42 1400 headed southern part of PZ; 2113 changed course to intercept s/convoy NE bound. 6/13/42 0349 vis sighting 2 AKs, 0359 3 AKs, 0442 4 AKs total (sup ship, oil tanker, troop transport, small freighter) 0515 periscope depth, 0520 tt1&2@oiler (destroyed); 0521 tt3&4@supply ship (1 miss/1 dud), tt5 missed. 0525 tt6@troop trans. turning N, dud; 0557 surfaced, tt10 @ troop trans, prematured; 05558 tt1&2 (prem/miss) 0617 tt3 (hit/destroyed) troop trans. 0743 tt4@small freighter (hit); 0744 commenced deck gun firing (destroyed) 6/20/42 returned to base. hull damage: light (10%) system damage: none (0%) 18.8 days at sea, 59960gals used (59%) Crew of Gar regrets the loss of some hands during the night surface attack.
