Kenneth M. Kelly, age 97, of Joplin passed away at 11:45 a.m. on Sunday, August 20, 2006 at a local nursing home. He was born March 7, 1909 in Bellville, Missouri to the late James Marion and Amy Carolyn (Coffer) Kelly, and was a lifetime resident of Joplin. Kenneth graduated from Joplin Business College in 1922 and was a self-employed electrician. On September 16, 1929 he married Elsie L. Danley. She preceded him in death on October 7, 1992. He is survived by two daughters, Jean Nivens of Joplin and JoAnn Osborn of Neosho; a son, Kenneth Kelly of Oronogo; two sisters, Elda Morse and Erma “Cookie” Terry, both of Webb City; 15 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Dean Kelly and Marion Kelly; one brother, Cooper “Tip” Kelly and two sisters, Glenna Steddum and Jeanne Comstock. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Osborne Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Seigel officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

Elois Jean Nivens, age 76, of Joplin, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at her home after a lengthy illness.
Jean was born November 15, 1932 in Joplin, daughter of the late Kenneth M. Kelly and Elsie Danley Kelly. She was a health care provider in the Joplin area for several years working for Freeman and later Oxford Home Health Care.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, John Nivens who died July 28, 1979.
Survivors include her nine children, Calvin Nivens and wife Vivian of Scotland, Missouri, Nancy Martin and husband Tom of Neosho, Linda McKee and husband Bob of Joplin, Kimmie Seigel and husband Kenny of Neosho, John Nivens of Neosho, Don Nivens and wife Nataliya of Seattle, Washington, Melody Nivens of Joplin, James Nivens and wife Nita of Neosho, Jeff Nivens of Joplin; a brother, Wayne Kelly and wife Ella of Purcell, Missouri; sister, JoAnn Osborn and husband Robert of Neosho; fourteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
