Pearl M. Steddum, age 94, of 1330 Kentucky Avenue, passed away at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 4, 1999, at her home after a lengthy illness.

Born April 23, 1905 in Columbus, KS, to Will and Julie Kincaid Anglen, she moved to Joplin from Blue Jacket, OK several years ago. She was a member and officer in the State and National Woodmen of the World Circle. She was a member of Blendville Christian Church, the Pythian Sisterhood, the A.T.A., Joplin Garden Club, and was a former Girl Scout leader.

On September 22, 1927 she married Gordon Allen (Red) Steddum in Joplin. He preceded her in death on April 24, 1987.

Survivors include a daughter, Jo Greer and her husband, Robert E., of 2413 New Hampshire; four grandchildren, Robert Greer and his wife Polly, Craig Greer and his wife Jayne, Jeff Greer, Christi Bennett and her husband John; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Parker Mortuary with Fred Fish, Minister officiating. Interment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Robert Greer, Craig Greer, Jeff Greer, John Bennett, Chad Greer, and Joshua Greer serving as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to Blendville Christian Church, 2205 Picher Avenue, Joplin, MO 64804.

Ralph P. Neighbors, 81, Olathe, KS, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2003, at Olathe Medical Center. Family services will be private. Interment in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Olathe. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Nursing Center, Olathe. Mr. Neighbors was born Oct. 13, 1921, in Shawnee, OK, to Lacie and Anna (Miller) Neighbors. Ralph attended the U.S. Naval Academy and Johns Hopkins University and served in both the Navy and U.S. Army during World War II. He was combat wounded at the Battle of the Bulge and received the Purple Heart. Following the war, he earned a Master's Degree in chemistry from Pittsburg State University. He was a member of Johnson County DAV Post #34 and VFW Post #2993. In 1983, he retired as Research Manager for Chevron. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lacie; and a granddaughter, Brandi Neighbors Marler. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Ethel; a son, Ralph R. Neighbors and wife, Jacque, Olathe; two grandsons, Lacie C. Neighbors II, Olathe, and Aaron Neighbors, Shawnee, KS; two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Kaitlin Neighbors; a brother, Tommy Casteel, Columbus, MS; and a step-sister, Jewell Morris, Culver City, CA.

JAMES R. �JIM� GASKILL

The funeral for James R. �Jim� Gaskill, 75, of Lamont, will be 2 p.m. Sa-turday at First Christian Church, Lamont. The Rev. Jeff McReynolds will officiate. Burial will be in Lamont Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home, Pond Creek. The casket will remain closed after the service.

He was born Nov. 21, 1931, in Tyro, Kan., to Archie Aaron and Anna Maybelle Moore Gaskill and died Sunday, May 20, 2007, at Integris Bass Baptist Pavillion.

He was raised in Wann and graduated from high school in 1950. He joined the Air Force following graduation.

He married Janet Steddum Nov. 10, 1956, in Enid while he was stationed at Vance Air Force Base. He made his career in the Air Force, retiring Feb. 1, 1974. He was a 20-year volunteer firefighter and a member of Masonic Lodge A.F.&A.M. of Lamont and First Christian Church of Lamont.

Surviving are his wife, Janet; two sons, Ken Gaskill of Deer Creek and Brian Gaskill of Sherman, Texas; three brothers, Wayne Gaskill of Woodland, Calif., Frank Gaskill of New Philadelphia, Ohio, and Ron Moore of Dixon, Calif.; two sisters, Evelyn Lucas of Bartlesville and Louise Woolam of Wann; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
