Sir, I realize that my leaving was abrupt. I meant no disrespect to you or to
JAG. It's just that I felt like I had to take advantage of this opportunity.
But me leaving was a mistake. I feel that I still have something to offer
this office, so, with your permission; I'd like to resume my duties. AJ:
Major, how do I know that you won't feel like spreading your wings again next
week? Harm:
What Mac is saying sir is that coming back to JAG is not a fall back
position. Mac:
I could make a lengthy argument about why you should take me back, but the
simple truth is that JAG is where I belong. If I ever thought of leaving

Quotes Mac:
Sir, when we leave this building tonight we'll do it in very different ways.
You'll get in your car and drive off. I'll walk out and pay attention to
shadows and dark corners. The keys will be in my hand for quick access to my
car and in case I need them as a weapon. I don't give it a second thought
because it's standard operating procedure every time I leave every building.

Unless you pay me to be dishonest. + + + Mark

HOTEL, MOSCOW Harm:
My friend needs a room too. Clerk
(rudely eyeing Mac): Does your 'friend' have a reservation? Mac:
No. Is that a problem? Clerk:
Problem, yes. We have no vacancies. Harm
and Mac look at each other. Mac:
I suppose we could share. Clerk:
You share room… pay double. (To other clerk; if he can afford this bimbo, he
can afford double.) Mac:
(Excuse me, but I'm no whore) The Russian clerks react. As Harm and Mac walk
away, Harm flips through the translation book. Mac:
It's not in the book. Hotel
Room Mac:
I'll flip you for the bed. Harm:
No, you take it, I'll take the ...chair...I'll go wait in the bathroom while
you change into your pajamas Mac:
What pajamas? + + + Hotel
Room There's
a knock at the door. Harm opens it. He sticks his head out and looks around.
He sees no one. Then he looks down.
There's a package, wrapped with paper and string. He picks up the package and is immediately
repulsed by the smell. He holds the package at arm's length as he quickly
finds a place to set it down. Mac
(sniffs): God, what is that? Harm:
Maybe it's a gift from your friend in the lobby. Mac:
You're not going to open it, are you? Harm
carefully slits the string with his pocketknife. He pulls out a rancid fish
wrapped in old Russian newspaper. Mac:
A warning? Rabb sleeps with the herrings? Harm
finds another parcel, wrapped securely in airtight plastic. He opens it and
finds a Colt 9 mm semi-automatic with spare clips. There's a note with it.
Harms hands the weapon to Mac to check out as he reads the note. Harm
(reading): "For God's sake, don't shoot anyone!" (He gets it) Webb. Mac:
Why the fish? Harm:
Would you steal something that smelled like this? Harm
closely scrutinizes the clips. Mac:
What are you doing? Harm:
Last time Webb handed me a weapon, he put a transmitter in it. Mac
laughs. Harm slaps the clip into grip and chambers a round. Snaps on the
safety and hands it to Mac. Harm:
Keep it under you pillow. + + + Hotel
Room Mac
is in bed. Staring across the room at Harm. In the light filtering through
the window from the street. Harm is lying back in the chair staring at the
laminated photo of him and his Dad. Something catches his eye beyond the
picture. A shadow breaks the light
seeping beneath the door. Harm:
(whispered) Mac. . . .She already has the Colt automatic in her hand. Mac
(whispered): Got it. Harm
slips out of the chair and eases across the room to the door. Mac sits up in
bed and covers the door with her weapon. + + + Hotel
Room – Dawn Mac
is sitting in bed, knees up and blanket to her chin, studying Harm in his
sleep. Harm slowly wakes. He blinks,
disoriented until he sees Mac. He gives her a small smile. Harm:
Morning. Mac:
Morning. Aren't you cold? I'm, freezing. Harm:
A little. What time is it? Mac:
East Cost, Zulu, or Moscow? Harm:
Moscow Mac
(without looking) Zero Five Twenty-Five Harm:
Doesn't jet lag even throw off that internal clock of yours? Mac:
Nope. Although Daylight Savings makes me think twice. There's
a knock at the door. Mac tosses the blanket. She's fully dressed and ready to
go . . . especially with Colt in hand. |
