Subject: South America Report 4
Hi!
There was not a lot to report, so I did not write earlier. I just decided last week I could need some rest and stayed in the nicest city of Bolivia: SUCRE (2700m, 15-25 deg.... is pretty nice for me after the freezing cold before) taking some spanish lessons and enjoying la vida. I am now staying with a family which is perfect for I only can speak in Spanish to them. They are like parents - talking a lot to me, wishing to know all and really caring. There is also a son - Rene - in about my age, so its just perfect.
The house is also perfect on a hill above the city with a sunny terrasse just for me and a nice room with a great view. Other than that I am taking some private spanish lessons at the Institute Cultural Boliviano-Aleman which is quite cheap. Never had private lessons before :-)
Sucre also is the perfect setting for it because it is a not-too-big (130k inhabitants) city with lots of plazas, parks, plazuelas and lots of colonial buildings. And you can walk every distance by foot. I am just living about 15min from the center. There is also the best university of south america in this town, so there are lots of students to talk to and have fun with!
Planning to stay till the 8th of August cuzz there are big fiestas on the 6th and the grandpa here has 87th birthday on the 7th and I am invited to a big reunion de la familia. Then I will continue to Cochabamba, a city south of La Paz.
take care
Oliver.
