The True Story of Jafar: An Introduction

Welcome again, my friends. You may be wondering about this story. Aladdin has been off the air for a while and Jafar certainly isn't one of the most favorite characters ever created, but I've always found him to be one of the most intriguing. There were many questions that have been plauging me since I saw Aladdin and Return of Jafar. Follow along with me, if you will...

1. How did Jafar manage to get into the Sultan's service to begin with?
2. If he has enough power to bend the Sultan's mind, why go to all the trouble of asking Princess Jasmine to marry him? Couldn't he have just hypnotized her?
3. The snake staff seems special. Where did Jafar get it and what is the true extent of its powers?
4. How is it that Iago can talk so well and why does he bother to hide the fact that he can from everyone until the end of the first movie?
In the second movie, when somebody mentions something about family to Iago, why is he so choked up?
5. Why does Iago bother to stick with Jafar when all he ever does is cause him trouble?

I hope to answer these questions in this story. I'll warn you now, it's going to be a rather sad story, but there will be some light and happy parts as well. It's going to be filled with quite a bit of oddness at times, but that's just part of my nature. I love getting feedback, so let me know what you think!

Oh and a few things that might be helpful: In my story, a 'familiar' is an animal that has been indubed with an animal spirit - they can take on human form and are essentially immortal. They have a large array of magical powers. Most familiar's only tolerate the mages that create them. When a mage dies, his familiar's animal spirit is once again released into the spirit world and the animal dies as well. Otherwise, a familiar is bound to their Master for the rest of their Master's life.
Also, most of the important places I create in this universe have double meanings in their names. See if you can figure them out! ^_^

Okay, enough ranting. On to Chapter One! 1
