Our main character!
His personality is strangely very closed type un like main characters from other manga! As story carry on it changes and start to open his mind. He scares a lot, weak, irresolute. In one word really stupid character even though he have kind mind. The main story of this anime is (beside how they defeat angels) is how Shinji find himself as man.
He hate to ride on Eva until he finds why he is the one who have to ride Eva 01.
He simply hates his dad because they didn't met each others for very long time because of that he feels that his dad dosen't need him! His relationship with his dad doesn't change even though Gendo (his father) say 'sorry' because Shinji never hear it.
His real emotion show up at the last episode. He talk to Rei, Asuka, Misato inside his mind. He shout at them, talk about his feeling, shows his emotion to other people and even kill one of them (surprise surprise!). Remember all those happen inside his mind. He ask or more like shout to the whole world why he exist.
