| Easy now BElanna dont rush, the Captain said as she helped the Doctor get BElanna to sit up. Damn my head hurts, how long was I out? BElanna asked. Three days today Lieutenant, the Doctor said as he began to scan her. BElanna turned very serious and looked at her Captain and asked, How is she; did she pull through? Yes she did, but shes very weak and still is in a coma. Janeway stepped aside to let BElanna see the young blonde woman lying on the bed next to her. Lieutenant how are you feeling? The Doctor asked bringing her attention back to his questions. BElanna looked back over at the Doctor and then to her Captain and said, like I just woke up from being blown to Grethor. The Captain watched as BElannas line of sight kept shifting back to Seven and then to whomever was talking to her at that moment. Something was going on there and Kathryn didnt even think BElanna was aware of it. Catching BElannas attention the Captain said, there is something we need to speak with you about. Before the Captain could continue the doors to sickbay opened and Lieutenant Tom Paris came in. Lanna! Honey youre awake! How are you feeling? BElanna was not in the mood for Tom right now why the hell is he here anyway? The last thing she remembered was kicking him out for sleeping with another hologram. BElanna was through with Tom Paris. She was not going to be with someone that could not be faithful to her. The problem was that Tom didnt believe he was being unfaithful to their marriage. He kept trying to say it was like masturbation, not adultery, but that was just the last thing in a whole list of reasons of why she was going to divorce him. What are you doing here Tom? BElanna said to Tom while glaring at him. Ah Lanna, why are you acting like this? Tom whined and tried to put on his Im too cute to be mad at look. BElanna saw what he was trying to do and said as much to him. Its not going to work Tom. I meant what I said the other day, nothing has changed with that. BElanna really didnt want to have this argument right now but she was not going to back down from the decision that was made about them before this whole explosion thing happened. Tom I dont want a scene so please just leave. But Lanna Im just here to see how youre doing. Tom whined some more trying to win back some favor in his wifes eyes. Not to mention that Tom wanted to know about the item that the Captain had put on top-level clearance on in her medical file. He was hoping they would be discussing it with her now that she was awake. Lt. Paris, you were asked to leave, I would suggest you do so before I order you to, Captain Janeway said rather harshly. Janeway had been aware of some of the changes between the two of them in the last few months. BElanna never brought up their failing marriage and Janeway didnt know as to why but she picked up on the fact BElanna didnt want Tom here right now, but she didnt want BElanna to get stressed by his presence. Tom stood shocked that Captain Janeway was telling him to leave but had no way to combat her, so he just nodded and left. BElanna let out a small sigh of relief and looked back up at Janeway nodding her thanks. Janeway smiled and said, BElanna we have something we need to discuss. I didnt want Tom here for the discussion. BElanna was worried that since Tom was still legally her husband, he would have access to all her records and be permitted to know what is going on with her health. At least until I put a block on it. Doctor, will you please put a block on all my medical files so Tom cant open them even when he is on duty here. Well yes I can... but why, and you know that will mean he will not be able to treat any type of injury you may have in the future, unless I open the file first. The Doctor explained rather confused. Yes I understand Doctor but I still would like it done, BElanna said tiredly. She was getting sleepy again but the Captain wanted to talk about something so she just pushed her tiredness aside and looked back at her. BElanna Im just going to come out and say this, because I dont think this is going to be the best of news for you right now. She waited for BElannas nod to go on, Youre pregnant BElanna, by the Doctors test results you are about five weeks in. BElanna was confused, it wasnt possible to get pregnant well not unless you had permission from Janeway to stop taking the inhibitors. But the inhibitors, how is it even possible? Well it seems Lt. Paris has not been taking the inhibitors and signed off that he has been for the last three months. The inhibitors only work if both parties are on them, not just one, the Doctor explained. BElanna just looked at the Doctor stunned at what Tom did. She didnt know if this was done on purpose or he just didnt realize that she could get pregnant if she was still on the inhibitors. Does he know? BElanna asked. She was sure that if he had done it on purpose he wouldve been checking the files in order to find out. Captain Janeway was thinking along the same lines as BElanna and said, No he has no idea youre pregnant. I put a top-level clearance on your file when the doctor found out that you were. I thought it best that you tell him and he not find out by other means; but then we found out how it happened and I wanted to wait for other reasons after that. BElanna nodded still a bit numb at the idea that she was pregnant. She looked back at the Doctor and asked, When am I due? Well as you already know, hybrid offspring are difficult to track due to the difference in gestation time for each species. When both BElanna and the Captain nodded the Doctor continued. Taking in those factors and the fact that you yourself are both human and Klingon, I would estimate that since the offspring is mostly human you will most likely have a longer than normal Klingon pregnancy, but not as long as a full human term. So anywhere between twenty to thirty weeks, but you could be as early as fifteen weeks so we need to be prepared for that event as well. BElanna was taken aback by the fact she could have a child in as little as ten weeks; it was a bit staggering. Wow Ok. Did the explosion do anything to my baby? No there was no damage, so far it is a very healthy pregnancy though we need to start you on prenatal care and have weekly check-ups to make sure the timing and development of your child is regular, said the Doctor. He then walked over to Sevens bed and adjusted some of the controls and stated: I would like it if you would stay for one more night but If thats what you think is best Doc, BElanna said interrupting the Doctor. Both The Captain and the Doctor exchanged confused looks but otherwise said nothing as they watched BElanna lay back down and fall asleep. |
