Samhain is the Wiccan new year and the Feast of the Dead. It is a time to honor and say farewell to loved ones who have died, especially if their deaths occured in the previous year. It's also a time to reflect upon the ending year, make plans for the upcoming one, and banish weakness or undesired qualities within us. The Goddess enters her dark phase as she mourns her son and consort, and the Dark God rules the winter, leading the Wild Hunt upon the earth.
